The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* special marine warning for... coastal waters from Port Fourchon la to lower Atchafalaya River la out 20 nm coastal waters from Port Fourchon Louisiana to lower Atchafalaya River la from 20 to 60 nm coastal waters from Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to Port Fourchon Louisiana from 20 to 60 nm coastal waters from the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to Port Fourchon Louisiana out 20 nm

* until 630 am CST

* at 526 am CST...National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of thunderstorms...producing strong winds 34 knots or greater from 6 nm northwest of Timbalier Bay to 35 nm south of Timbalier Island...moving northeast at 40 knots.

* These strong thunderstorms will otherwise remain away from significant coastal landmarks over the indicated areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Mariners can expect gusty winds...high waves...dangerous lightning... and heavy rains. Boaters should seek safe Harbor immediately...until this storm passes.

Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe Harbor immediately.
