... Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon for
the Yukon river from Beaver to Rampart...
The Flood Watch continues for
* the Yukon river from Beaver to Rampart.
* Through Friday afternoon.
* An ice jam has formed near hodzana Slough approximately 25
miles downriver from Beaver. A significant amount of water
is backing up behind the ice jam flooding low lying areas
and causing water levels to rise at Beaver. Currently at
Beaver the river level remains below flood stage. This ice
jam is expected to release during the next 24 hours which
will likely cause river levels to rise sharply at Stevens
Village.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
