Statement as of 4:05 AM CDT on October 31, 2014

...Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect from 9 am this morning to 7 PM CDT this evening... ...Freeze warning remains in effect from midnight tonight to 9 am CDT Saturday...

A freeze warning remains in effect from midnight tonight to 9 am CDT Saturday. A lake Wind Advisory remains in effect from 9 am this morning to 7 PM CDT this evening.

* Event...north to northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph are expected today...with gusts to 30 mph in places. Winds will decrease tonight...with below freezing temperatures likely in the Ozark mountains of the north and portions of the Arkansas River valley and the Ouachita Mountains of the west.

* Areas affected...the lake Wind Advisory is in effect for much of Arkansas. The freeze warning includes locations from Cave City... Clinton and Booneville northward.

* Impacts...strong winds today will create hazardous conditions on area bodies of water. Freezing conditions tonight will kill plants and tender vegetation left outdoors without protection. Unprotected water pipes could freeze...especially if left without running a slow steady stream of liquid.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A freeze warning means subfreezing temperatures are expected. If these conditions occur...crops and other sensitive vegetation would be affected.

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
