Ventura County Coast

Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 9:16 PM PDT on May 20, 2012

... Gusty northwest to north winds expected across portions of
southwest California Monday night through Thursday night...

A strengthening northwest flow pattern develops for Southern California
this week... setting the stage for a prolonged period of gusty
northwest to north winds across portions of southwest California
from Monday night through at least Thursday night.

Moderate northwest to north winds are expected to develop across
southern Santa Barbara County... the Interstate 5 corridor in the
Los Angeles County mountains... and Antelope Valley by Monday
evening... when gusts between 35 and 45 mph are expected. These winds
are forecasted to strengthen further Tuesday through
Thursday... especially during the late afternoon through nighttime
hours. During the peak of the event... all of these areas could see
wind gusts in the 50 to 60 mph range. As the winds strengthen and
humidities lower... there will be a heightened fire weather risk for
the mountains... Santa Barbara South Coast... and Antelope Valley.

This northwest flow pattern will set up a prolonged period of
strong gale force winds across the outer coastal waters. Please
refer to the latest marine weather statement highlighting these
concerns.
