High Surf Advisory
Statement as of 6:42 PM PST on December 19, 2014

...High surf advisory now in effect from 4 am Saturday to 4 am PST Sunday...

* surf and timing...surf will build to 5 to 7 feet on exposed west facing beaches Saturday morning and persist through early Sunday morning. Strong and frequent rip currents on all beaches. Higher than normal high tide around 6.5 feet at 7:15 am Saturday.

* Location...strong rip currents and high surf along exposed west facing shores from Santa Monica Bay southward to Torrance beach.

* Impacts...strong rip currents in the vicinity of high surf. Minor tidal overflow during higher high tide.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area...producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
