Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:04 PM HST on September 02, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Maui in Maui County

* until 600 PM HST

* at 259 PM HST... radar showed areas of heavy showers and
thunderstorms with rain falling at rates of more than 2 inches per
hour. The heaviest showers have shifted to upcountry Maui and
windward west Maui. Although showers have diminished along east
Maui... streams remain very high.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Waihee... Waiehu... Pauwela... napili... Kapalua... Kahakuloa... hookipa
Beach Park... Honolua... Honokohau and Haiku.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.


This Flood Advisory replaces the previously issued advisory that was
in effect for portions of the island of Maui in Maui County.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 600 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.
