Statement as of 3:05 PM HST on November 22, 2008 ... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight... The Flash Flood Watch continues for * Kahoolawe... Kauai... Lanai... Maui... Molokai... Niihau and Oahu. * Through late tonight. * An upper level low northwest of Kauai will continue to destabilize the airmass over the islands west of The Big Island through tonight. Recent rains have saturated soils on Kauai and Oahu... and if heavy rain develops overnight... flash flooding could rapidly develop. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. When it occurs... flash flooding kills many people every year. Please monitor later updates on the situation... and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued. This watch will be updated by 400 am HST Sunday... or sooner if necessary.

Statement as of 4:45 PM HST on November 22, 2008 ... Record daily maximum rainfall set at Honolulu HI... A record rainfall of 1.12 inches was recorded at Honolulu Airport so far today. This breaks the old record for the date of 0.94 inches set in 2005.
