Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:55 AM CDT on August 22, 2014

...Flood Advisory remains in effect for Ford...Grundy...Livingston... southern La Salle...Iroquois and Kankakee counties until 800 am CDT...

At 352 am CDT...National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the area. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches have fallen across portions of the advisory area. This area of heavy rainfall will move across Ford and Iroquois counties through 6 am.

Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to occur. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Bourbonnais...Bradley...Claytonville...Dwight...Fairbury...Gibson City...Kankakee...La Salle...Manteno...Marseilles...Momence... Morris...Oglesby...Ottawa and Paxton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed...act quickly. Do not enter the water. Turn around and move up to higher ground. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.
