... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EST
Wednesday...
Hazardous weather...
* an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected overnight... for
storm total snowfall in the 5 to 8 inch range.
* Occasional heavy snow is expected through midnight. Then the snow
is expected to lighten up prior to daybreak.
* Blowing and drifting snow will continue into Wednesday as north
winds of 15 to 30 mph persist.
Impacts...
* the heavy snow will significantly reduce visibility and result
in snow covered and slippery roads.
* Areas of blowing snow will limit visibility... especially in
open country into Wednesday. Use caution if you must travel.
Although the snow is expected to diminish by daybreak... the
blowing and drifting snow will still impact the morning commute.
* The Lake Michigan shoreline communities will be the most
impacted by the blowing snow tonight and Wednesday.
Visibilities may dip to around a half mile in blowing snow at
times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
* a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter
weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant
amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous.
If you travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water
in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
