Moore Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio

Special Statement
Statement as of 7:08 AM EDT on April 23, 2014

...Increased fire danger across central North Carolina today...

Gusty winds from the northwest combined with a very dry air mass will create conditions favorable for increased fire activity today. Northwest winds around 10 to 15 mph will gust to around 25 mph... and minimum relative humidity of around 25 percent is expected. The drying effects of the wind will make dead grasses and leaves potentially combustible from any ignition source... such as a spark or discarded smoking material.

Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Any unattended fire should be reported immediately to the local Fire Department.
