Morris

Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 10:09 PM EDT on May 23, 2013

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
east central Morris County in northern New Jersey...

* until 430 am EDT Friday

* at 1005 PM EDT National Weather Service Doppler radar showed
additional showers and thunderstorms advancing from eastern
Pennsylvania. They are expected to arrive after midnight.

* The gauge observation on the east ditch at Beaver Brook Road
was 2.8 feet at 835 PM. The level is expected to fall through the
rest of the evening, but rise again with the arrival of showers
and thunderstorms. A stage of 2.5 feet results in flooding
on Beaver Brook Road.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Do not
stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

A Flood Warning means flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most
flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross
water covered bridges... dips... or low water crossings. Never try to
cross a flowing stream... even a small one... on foot. To escape rising
water move up to higher ground.
