Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:58 PM PDT on September 17, 2014

...The Flood Advisory remains in effect until 530 PM PDT for west central Nye and extreme southeastern Esmeralda counties...

At 354 PM PDT...weather radar and satellite imagery indicates showers and thunderstorms have ended in the advisory area however...runoff from earlier storms may have caused minor flooding of the roadway...especially along Highway 267 west of Scottys Junction. Drivers in the area should use caution and watch for ponding of water in low lying regions of the roadway.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Heavy rain will lead to flowing water in normally dry washes and ponding of water on roads. Low water crossings can be dangerous in heavy rain. Do not drive into flooded roads or low water crossings. Turn around...dont drown!

a record high temperature of 119 degrees was set at Death Valley CA yesterday. This broke the old record of 118 set in 1922.
