Statement as of 9:53 PM EST on February 09, 2010 ... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST Wednesday... A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST Wednesday. Snow will continue to increase in coverage and intensity through pre dawn hours from the Laurel Highlands north and east through the central mountains. By daybreak... these areas should see an additional 3 to 6 inches of accumulation. During the morning... 3 to 5 more inches of accumulation is likely before snowfall decreases by early afternoon. Further south over the south central mountains and lower Susquehanna River valley... snow will continue heavy at times overnight. An additional 3 to 6 inches is expected by daybreak. Snow will continue heavy at times into Wednesday afternoon over the lower Susquehanna River valley before tapering to flurries late in the day. Total snowfall accumulations are expected to average between 8 and 12 inches over most of the warned area. Snowfall amounts in excess 12 inches are expected over parts of the middle and lower Susquehanna valley. Precautionary/preparedness actions... a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means a significant amount of snow is forecast that will make travel dangerous. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... blanket and a cellular phone in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
