Statement as of 10:38 AM MDT on May 29, 2015
... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 130 PM MDT Saturday for
Central Pennington and northeastern Custer counties...
At 1035 am MDT... very high streamflows and minor flooding continues
along rapid creek downstream from Pactola Reservoir to the Cheyenne
river and along Spring Creek both upstream and downstream of
Sheridan Lake. Minor flooding is expected to continue through the
Rain showers are ending and no additional accumulation is expected.
Dry conditions will prevail through Sunday morning... allowing creeks
and streams to begin to recede. However... thunderstorms are possible
early next week and since the soil is saturated... any rain that
falls will quickly flow into rapid creek and Spring Creek resulting
in additional rises.
Some locations that will experience flooding include... Rapid
City... Hill City... Rapid Valley... Johnson Siding... Hisega...
Caputa... Folsom... Farmingdale... Rockerville... areas around Pactola
Reservoir... and around Sheridan Lake.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
