... Flash Flood Watch in effect until 6 am CDT Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east Arkansas... north
Mississippi and west Tennessee... including the following
areas... in east Arkansas... Craighead... Crittenden... cross...
Lawrence... Lee... Mississippi... Poinsett and St. Francis. In
north Mississippi... Alcorn... Benton... Chickasaw... DeSoto...
Itawamba... Lafayette... Lee... Marshall... Monroe... Panola...
Pontotoc... Prentiss... Tate... Tippah... Tishomingo... Tunica and
Union. In west Tennessee... Chester... Fayette... Hardeman...
Hardin... Haywood... Lauderdale... Madison... McNairy... Shelby and
Tipton.

* Until 6 am CDT Wednesday

* heavy rainfall in thunderstorms moving repeatedly over the same
areas will produce rainfall amounts between 2 and 4
inches... with isolated higher amounts possible.

* These heavy rains in short periods of time will result in quick
rises in water levels along area creeks and small rivers. This
will also result in flooded roadways and low water crossings in
areas that receive flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

The Flood Advisory continues for
the Mississippi River at Memphis
* until Wednesday April 01.
* At 09 PM Tuesday the stage was 29.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 34.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to near 28.8 feet Wednesday April
01.
* At 29.0 feet... in Arkansas. The evacuation Route from camps south
of Hopefield Chute is cut off. Water is lapping the levee near
sulcer Road west of South Lake. River is touching the levee at Blue
Lake.
