... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening...

* locations... Roanoke and New River valley... southwest to the
North Carolina mountains... and mountain Empire of southwest
Virginia.

* Hazard types... freezing rain... sleet and snow.

* Accumulations... snow and sleet accumulation 1 to 5 inches...
highest northwest of Interstate 81... and near the Blue Ridge
between Roanoke and Hillsville.

* Timing... through this afternoon... ending by early evening.

* Impacts... snow and sleet will result in hazardous travel
conditions.

* Winds... north 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... dropping into the 20s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

... Wintry mixture ending this afternoon...

A mixture of rain... snow and sleet will end from west to east
across the region this afternoon. Snow and sleet accumulations
up an inch are possible this afternoon. The back edge of the heaviest
precipitation should move east of the area by 330 PM.

Because of the periods of snow and sleet... travel difficulties
will continue this afternoon. Be prepared for slippery roads and
limited visibilities... and use caution while driving this
afternoon.
