... Preparing for a winter storm...
November 8th through the 14th is winter weather awareness week in West Virginia. Heavy snowfall... extreme cold... and ice can be dangerous... so be ready for Winters worst. Here is what you can do:
First... before a storm hits... make sure you have supplies you will need. Have a battery powered radio... a flashlight... and plenty of extra batteries in your home and car.
Stock an emergency supply of food and water... enough to last for several days. Choose food that requires no cooking. Store drinking water in tightly-sealed plastic bottles. You will need at least one gallon per person per day.
Next... make plans for heating your home in an emergency. Consider buying a portable heater. Conserve heat by closing off unused rooms.
Keep emergency supplies in your car trunk including... a blanket... flares... shovel... box of sand... snack foods... and water.
Remember to winterize your car. Check the antifreeze and heater. You may need snow tires as well.
Being prepared for emergencies is up to you!
