City of Richmond in central Virginia... southeastern Goochland County in central Virginia... southern Hanover County in central Virginia... Henrico County in central Virginia... * until 900 PM EDT * at 816 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing nickel size hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 6 miles north of Manakin... or 8 miles northwest of Tuckahoe... and moving southeast at 30 mph. * The severe thunderstorm will be near... Tuckahoe by 830 PM EDT... Laurel and Glen Allen by 835 PM EDT... Lakeside by 840 PM EDT... downtown Richmond by 845 PM EDT... East Highland Park by 850 PM EDT... Highland Springs by 900 PM EDT... Precautionary/preparedness actions... If you are in the path of this storm... seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows! National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms from 8 miles northwest of Ashland to 19 miles west of Ashland... or from 8 miles northwest of Ashland to 7 miles northeast of Goochland... moving southeast at 35 mph. The strong thunderstorms will be near... Mechanicsville around 825 PM EDT... Highland Springs around 840 PM EDT... talleysville around 845 PM EDT... New Kent around 850 PM EDT... Roxbury around 900 PM EDT... Wind gusts to 50 mph... small hail and frequent cloud to ground lightning are expected in the path of these storms. If you hear thunder... you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move into a safe shelter before these storms reach your area. Remain indoors until the storms have passed. |
