John CelenzaDirector of Weather Technology
John Celenza grew up in Syracuse, NY. After experiencing some of the most stormy winter weather in the United States, he decided to study meteorology at Penn State University. There he developed web pages for the Campus Weather Service, a volunteer student run forecasting service. Included in his work was a verification software package which verifies the quality of student forecasts. Also during his undergraduate education, John implemented the PSU/NCAR MM5 weather forecasting model at a television station in the Syracuse, NY area. In May, 2000, John graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology and was named the top student in the College of Earth and Mineral Science. In June, 2000, John joined the Weather Underground team at the San Francisco office as a meteorological developer. John's hobbies include Monopoly, playing the drums, hiking, and downhill skiing. : Top of Page :
