100,000+ Photos Later............

I've been taking pictures for 50 years. It took me a long time to be convinced to switch to digital format...now I believe it is the best, although film cameras still have their place. I am based in Lancaster, PA, but always take lots of photos when on vacation all over the world.

I try to carry my camera with me wherever I go, because 60% of getting a great photo depends upon "being in the right place at the right time." For this reason you can't get as many great photos standing out in the middle of a corn field as you can in Yosemite Valley. (But there are some great ones to be had in the corn field if you look hard enough and wait long enough.) The other 40% depends upon your technical skill with the camera as well as your ability to create a forceful composition.

Regarding your pics of the Susquehanna. Fabulous! It tells so much about the lack of rain this fall. It also shows a beauty that is rarely seen. A good reminder about how wonderful nature is and how the earth and seasons are constantly changing; how the earth changes because of the weather. We should all cherish what we have when we have it because it could be gone. Excellent choice of subject matter. A picture is worth more than a thousand words on these pictures. Thank you.

Really nice pics. I am amazed at how much more ice and snow you have over your way-here in the Reading area we've got nothing!! Sure could use some!

I am in search of pictures of Prairie Du Chein, WI cirrca 1950's till current. The reason is I was born there. In 1956 my dad was in seminary doing his first gig at a Evangelical United Brethren church. My family then returned to our home in the Pacific NorthWest that same year.
