The highest total I could find was 17in in Virginia!
So close, yet so far.
That's ok. I'm moving into Spring mode. Looking forward to reclaiming my back yard. I am interested in knowing what the precip picture for spring is being painted. Please I do hope nothing like last year.
Anyway, lilac buds are appearing. My son spotted a robin a couple of days ago.
At least spring won't require much of a change haha.
Do it
Oops, not quite what I meant. I meant, what do you guys think about the GFS?
Where'd you find that?
I think something's wrong with its temperature profile. Likely warm rain with snow/ice/rain northern New England.
I don't usually forecast a spring outlook, but I will try to write a new blog Thursday evening. So far from what I can see March looks extremely mild and possibly that may continue through Spring.
At least that's how I feel about it during these five minutes.
Obviously none of us know what's in store when it comes to long term weather, but I doubt this is the new norm. The last two winters were incredibly snowy here and this is the warmest winter since I moved to NYC 4 years ago...possibly the warmest winter I've ever experienced in the states (originally from Michigan). I think there will be many more 'classic' winters to come, as there will be ups and downs from year to year. I also think there will many years that are extreme, from one end of the spectrum to the other, meaning the ups and downs may be greater than we had been accustomed to.
Not to say this warm winter was expected, but many predictions said the snow would be below average for much of the Northeast...this just ended up being more below average than we were hoping. There have never been 3 well above average snowfall seasons in my area and once again, after two, the third time was not a charm. It's hard to guess what the future will hold, but it seems quite evident that the climate is in a state of fluctuation. All we can do is sit back and enjoy the spectacle. I've certainly embraced this warm winter and can only hope that it turns into an early Spring. In fact, it sure does feel like Spring outside today with the temperature already at 50 degrees just before 10 A.M.
Of course, none of us would be too shocked if a major March snowstorm appeared...
I will report in Friday, assuming we have cell phone reception. No electricity at the cabin!
I don't know enough on that matter. I know that is all we heard on TV, but knowing what I know about the lame stream media and their agendas I can't say for sure.
I really won't mind a warm Spring. It seems like lately our Springs have been on the chilly side come late April into late May.
I see Colorado is getting large amounts of snow. Hopefully, enough to fill the rivers this Spring.
December and January we hardly had any strong windy days, especially the ones associated with strong cold fronts. This month we have been having all kinds of wind
Unfortunately it will melt probably quickly once we change to rain tomorrow and warm near 40F. We are traveling up to the Tug Hill once again this weekend.
