Hi, folks!
Wicca 101 at 10am. Brea’s Elements at Noon. Practical Craft (Talking Sticks) 2pm. Pan-Pagan Gathering planning meeting at 3pm.
It’s very bright sunshine at the moment. I don’t know if that’s likely to hold or not. The weather forecast is for rain, but I’ll take what I can get….
It was pretty quiet for a Saturday. Tempus took me to the shop and helped open, then came back up to the house to print his resumes before he headed for the Job Fair. Chuck some good energy for getting the job his way. He’d appreciate it! He spent several hours there and then did some grocery shopping and came back to the shop.
I had about 20 people through during the day, not counting one new supplier (that I’ll tell you about in a minute). Mostly it was people browsing. I spent a lot of time on getting some more stock made and entered into the inventory: a new pendulum, some large-scale shell earrings, a couple of miscellaneous crystals.
The new supplier is making henna’ed candles. You have to see them to believe the delicacy of her artwork! She also does henna on people and is planning on being on hand on May 12 for the Waldport Great Garage Sale and maybe Beachcombers’. We have taper pairs hanging in the candle display and pillars on the table. She will do custom sets.
Workshops ran ok during the day, although I didn’t get to Sewing until way late because of the candles. Herbs was mostly on pine, pine resin, pine wood, pine needles and pine tips.
The Rock Tumbler one was interesting because the crystals had been running for almost 10 days and ground the grit down fine enough that leaving the drum sitting overnight was a bad mistake. They glued themselves in place as everything settled! I finally had enough crystals for a #2 grit run. That’s the jade and aventurine, mostly, but there are some other crystals in this batch. The small tumbler only got started on Thursday, so we’re going to let it run until next week.
Sewing Workshop… Mary is still working on the booties. I don’t know for certain what project she was doing during the most of the time. Willow has been working and re-working a snood that matches the outfit she had on the feast last night. I had my scroll sampler. The top pattern is finished. (I was on hold on the telephone for a while.) The 2nd one is sketched out and the 3rd is far enough along that I was able to set the pattern cards aside while I was working today. I also found an eyeglass case that matches my embroidery wallet and the (missing) checkbook cover, that I can set up to work another pattern on (in case I actually find the other one!!!) and have enough of the panel done that’s supposed to be an insert in a purse/tote that I’m working on that at least one long-term project is finally getting somewhere! I have to make a pattern for the tote, figure out where I want what kind of pocket, where the keyring should attach, etc.
I went to tend the terrarium and found that the cup mushroom that was growing on a stick that I put in there had fired off all of its “eggs”. Some were stuck to the glass, but most had fallen down into the dirt.
…and then we were pretty tired and went home… I spent the evening catching up on correspondence and then playing for a while, then got a bath and read. I needed a quiet evening….
Today is mostly the usual classes, but the young folks are going back to the Center a little early because of the Pan-Pagan planning meeting. If you want to know what the heck we’re doing or have input/ideas for us, either get them to me here, call the shop or e-mail… or just show up!
The shop opens at 11am technically, but I’ll be there around 9. Spring hours, 11am-6pm, Thursday through Monday. If we’re supposed to be closed, but it looks like we’re there, try the door. If it’s open, the shop’s open!
Love & Light,
Anja

Today
The Moon is a Waning Crescent. Waning Moon Magick - From the Full Moon to the New is a time for study, meditation, and magic designed to banish harmful energies and habits, for ridding oneself of addictions, illness or negativity. Waning Crescent Moon – From 10 ½ days after full moon or rather 8 days before new moon until 3 days before. Best time for beginning introspective magicks that are more long term. Until Monday 12:18pm…
Saturn is at opposition, opposite the Sun. It rises around sunset, shines highest in the middle of the night, and sets around sunrise. Telescope users: watch for the Seeliger effect, described under Saturn in "This Week's Planet Roundup" below.
Mars ends its retrograde (westward) motion for the year and resumes heading east against the background stars. [It’s been direct for a few days, but stationary.] Watch it pull away from Regulus in the coming weeks: slowly at first, then faster.

Saille Willow Apr 15 - May 12 - The Willow in the Tree alphabet stands for the female and lunar rhythms of life. She is water-seeking, thriving from preference on the damp margins of lakes and streams or across the low-lying water meadows. Water and the tidal movements of the sea are governed by the pull of the moon. The moon in its monthly rhythms is female, contrasting with the male sun's daily and yearly turnings. In several ways, the Celts held women in higher regard than we do today. On the material level, women were property owners, and whoever controlled the property controlled the marriage. Women of all types and ages appeared in the Celtic pantheon, the spiritual strength and life-giving qualities given by both female and male recognized equally. There were colleges of Druidesses - learned women and teachers - respected equally for their gifts of see-ship, often expressed through dreams, or night visions.
Magical Associations: Romantic love, healing, protection, fertility, magic for women.

Quotes
He is great enough that is his own master. - Joseph Hall
I could never stay long enough on the shore; the tang of the untainted, fresh, and free sea air was like a cool, quieting thought. - Helen Keller
I do not consider it an insult, but rather a compliment to be called an agnostic. I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure -- that is all that agnosticism means. - Clarence Darrow, on the existence of God
I think I might as well give up being a candidate. There are so many people in the country who don't like me. - William Howard Taft (1857-1930) US President (27)
In Your district, where are "us" and "I,"
O You whose soul soars above "us" and "I,"
Who permeates with subtle spirit both man and woman?
When man and woman become one, You are that Unity.
You have created this "I" and "Us"
To play the game of adoration with Yourself;
All the "I"s and "You"s will become one single soul
And in the end melt into the Beloved. - Jalal-ud-Din Rumi (Translated by Andrew Harvey from A Year of Rumi)

Magick – Beltane
Maypole For Beltane
Materials:
Flat piece of wood
Small wooden pole
A wooden knob for the top of the pole
Red and white lengths of ribbon
Beltane symbols: Nuts, spring flowers, strings of beads, miniature apples, for decoration around the bottom of the maypole
Glue gun
Directions:
Either drill hole into the flat wood base to insert pole or simply glue it to the bottom securely. Glue four equal lengths of ribbon to top, and seal knob on pole with glue, on top of the ribbons. Glue or place decorative items around base.
Ritual use:
During ritual, the maypole can be wound. Simply weave the ribbons in and out of each other in as pleasing a pattern as possible, fastening with sticky-tac or other less permanent adhesive (so that this apparatus can be used again next year in ritual). The symbolism of the maypole is that of the male phallic symbol (the pole itself) being enveloped by the female vaginal symbol (the ribbons). Also, the winding, when done in a traditional form by dancers around a real maypole, sometimes symbolize male-female mating with the red and white ribbons themselves.
All these graphics were either made by me or acquired at Silverhair's Borders (site now dead).
May Pole Centerpiece - You will need: 18" wood dowel or thin branch, 6-9" diameter flat round wooden plaque, small grapevine wreath, approx. 6-8" diameter, decorated on both sides, 1 yard each of red and white ribbon, scissors, drill and a 1/4 drill bit, 1 1 1/4 length flattened wood screw, hot glue gun. Drill pilot holes completely through center of plaque and 1/2 deep into the bottom end of the dowel. Cross the ribbons and glue on top end of the dowel. Attach the dowel to the stand by screwing the screw through the plaque, and then into the bottom end of the dowel. Glue wreath on top of dowel by melting a medium dab of glue on top of the crossed ribbons and on the bottom of the wreath, then join the wreath to the top of the dowel. To make it more secure wait a few minutes and then glue around the edge of the wreath where it meets the dowel, filling in gaps. Braid the ribbons - one color going left and under the other color, which is moving right. Braid about 2 inches down the dowel and tack to the dowel with hot glue to keep in place. When set, tack the ends of the ribbons to the edge of the wood plaque with hot glue.

Energy list
4/13/12 – “I am still very sick and have been for a month now - really need help kicking this on the spiritual plane - depression makes you sick and I am having a hard time climbing out of this hole. I now have bronchitis as well as the ongoing infection - see Dr again on Monday - This is probably the only request for help/healing I have ever made - but I just can't seem to kick this on my own. Whatever you think will help - I feel like I am dying a very slow and painful death.”
4/8/12 – For an older father with various health issues that gave us all a scare a while back. He’s much better, but still needs help to get back to health.
4/7/12 - 9-year-old boy with an inoperable brain tumor. Starting radiation. Family and friends asking help for him and for the children that know him. Update 4/7 He’s doing pretty well and back in school despite the treatments.
3/28/12 – For a man who is terrified he’s going to lose his small daughter to her mother’s new boyfriend. The guy seems to be intent on leaving with her, even if he has no legal right.
3/19/12 – For a high-schooler, crazy for basketball and volleyball who went down with a concussion early in the season. They’re telling her none of her favorite sports for a year, minimum, we’re asking for healing and the strength to deal with not being able to do what she loves for the moment.
3/16/12 – For someone who has found a dream job and wants some extra oomph to help him get it.

Silliness – GCF: At the Bar
Sitting in a bar having drinks with a friend, I casually pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us. I said, "That's us in ten years."
He said, "That's a mirror, you idiot!"
