Dear Rob:

Back from the wilds of Grand Manan - and as forecast - lots of FOG and RAIN. We did not get to go on our trip to Machias because we couldn't see our hands in front of our faces, but, not to be out-done decided to make the most of it. Attended the farmer's market, wherein I met up with tons of artist friends. So, over coffee caught up on the plans for the Swallowtail light, who was making what, etc. A great way to spend rainy Sat. a.m.

Next, off to beach comb at Stanley (yes - I was the only fool there) - but scored some major pieces of beach glass for my projects.
After a coffee and croissant at the bakery, it was off to the art museum to see the new exhibit. After that, it was cooking gourma dinner time, some major wine, and then challenged Gerald to a crib tournament - which I won. Turns out Gerald had had some rye? with the many visiting family members, so he wanted to go to the Dark Harbour Pit Party??? Cybil Joan ex-nayed that idea. Would have been fun though.

As you probably heard, the 80th birthday party at McLaughlin's was beautiful - so much food the tables were groaning - and then I heard that the 3:30 ferry was cancelled - which I was booked on - due to the fact that she blew a head. Wonderful. Spent most of the rest of the time trying to get home. Went stand-by for 5:30 boat and somehow they squeezed me on? Thank God for a small car. They left at least two boats worth of people on the dock. One wonderful tourist was so pissed they almost had to call the cops to come and take him away. What a scene at the terminal.

Anyway - every lane and up the hill was taken on Blacks' side, so I imagine there were lots of pissed off people there too. Never a dull moment. It was mid-night by the time I got my mother home and then home myself. I love coming to Grand Manan. It is NEVER boring, rain, sun, snow, fog ..... whatever .... always manage to find the drama.

Have a good one. CHUNKS
