Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the northern Sea has cleared of any cloudiness.
That moisture plume moving up from the ITCZ/monsoon trough that blanketed the Sea with overcast yesterday has narrower due to the diminishing amount of convection along the zone from around 120 west.
This morning there is still rather heavy thunderbumper activity from Central America out to around 120 along the zone and the clouds being generated from these are moving NE toward the southern Baja coast this morning. The most northern edge of this plume is around Santa Rosalia and it looks like the plume is slowly sliding south.
Should this continue the central Sea could see some sunshine this afternoon.
The southern edge of the plume is around the cape and as of 5am the Mexican Riviera did not appear to be seeing any of this plume. That however could change if the plume slides south. We’ll see?
Looking now south to the Tehuantepec where the reporting station at Salena Cruz on the northern shore of the Gulf was showing 20-25 knot winds. The winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec are forecast to diminish to less than 20 knots by this afternoon however the Seas will still be around 8 feet. The seas should lay down over the next couple of days and perhaps open a crossing window by Sunday. We’ll see?
That’s about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image I can see where that low that dropped out of the Gulf of Alaska will be bringing rain to the Great Northwest well into next week.
Northern California will see that Pacific Storm moving out of the bay area this morning and bringing rain to the Sacramento Valley, the foothills and the Sierras today. Snow levels are forecast to drop to around 6000 feet later this morning with chain requirements most likely over the northern Sierra passes.
The high elevation passes could see wind gust to 50 mph. The California delta will also be windy with gusts in the 20-30 knot ranges.
The system should pass to the east by later tonight.
Looking now to southern California where the system has already moved out of the area with just a few lingering showers in the wake today. Tomorrow into the weekend will be dry and with a warming trend.
With the return of high pressure to the region they can also expect to see the the return of morning coastal fog.
Looking now over to the southwest where this image is showing most of the wet clouds moving NE out of California into Nevada and not East into Arizona. Arizona will however see some cloudiness at least this morning as the cold front moves through the state. The forecast is for a chance of rain. However looking at this image it looks like the chances are slim for the lower deserts and the Tucson area.
Anyway by late this evening the front will have moved off to the east and tomorrow will remain cool before returning to the lower 90s this weekend. High pressure will build over the region into the upcoming week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern Sea will see moderate winds over the next 3 days except this morning when that front comes through.
The central Sea ballpark 20k winds over the 3-day forecast period with Saturday’s winds having a southern flavor.
The southern Sea moderate winds with Saturday’s winds swinging to the southwest.
Sky conditions in the northern Sea will be clear. Sort of iffy about the central Sea. I just looked at the sat image and the plume has not moved south in the past 2 hours. The southern see looks like they will continue be overcast again today.
Temperatures today will be about the same as yesterday and be in the mid to high 80s.
