.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has had another 24 hours of cloudless skies.
Looking south to the Riviera I can see that the area from around Zihuatanejo south to Central America has had passing clouds and from Zihuatanejo south fairly heavy thunderbumper activity along the coast for the past 24 hours as well as this morning.
All this is coming from a broad area of heavy thunderbumper activity about the size of Texas off the mainland coast.
Yesterday morning a developing low a couple hundred miles south of Acapulco showed up and this morning it has been designated invest 92. Environmental conditions are ripe in the area for development, much like Aletta. The National Hurricane Center is saying there is a medium chance (30%) of tropical development over the next 48 hours.
Looking out to the west I can see that sister Aletta had now become depressed and is headed toward Hawaii. I’ll probably see one, perhaps two more advisories on Aletta before she is archived.
Looking out along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see that from Panama out to around 150 there are numerous tall thunderbumper cells but not near as many as off the mainland coast.
Looking now back over to the coast and the Gulf of Tehuantepec I can see a big, I mean a very big building thunderbumper that blankets the Gulf and extends well into Guatemala this morning. The winds in the Gulf are forecast to be ballpark 20K today and tomorrow diminishing a bit on Saturday.
That’s about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where pleasant weather continues along the west coast. Fog hugs the coast from the Columbia River south to a bit south of Turtle Bay this morning. Inland temperatures are mostly in the 80s inland and in the 60s and 70s along the coast.
Southern California has an approaching low that will arrive this afternoon and tonight that will give cause to cooler conditions today and gusterly winds in the mountains and deserts. When it exits tomorrow high pressure will fill in again with a warming trend into next week.
Looking now over to the southwest where temperatures will remain around 100 today in the Tucson area. The area will cool slightly tomorrow and Saturday as a dry cold front moves out of California into Arizona. This will bring dry conditions and gusterly winds resulting in fire danger across Arizona Early next week the temperatures will creep back to around 105.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like we will be seeing southerly winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Strong in the northern Sea today and diminishing over the next two days to be in the moderate ranges.
The central Sea today the Baja side of the northern crossing will see ballpark 17-19 know winds today diminishing over the next two days back to the moderate ranges. The Sonoran coast will see 17-22 today and tomorrow and then back to the moderate southerlies on Saturday.
The southern Sea moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Temperature-wise the highs yesterday were down across the board 3-5 degree from the day before. Today they should be about the same as yesterday.
