Voce to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has been free of any cloudiness for the past 24 hours
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera I can see that there has been some clouds building back in the mountains behind Puerto Vallarta south to around Manzanillo that have been moving toward the coast. There does not look like they will get any rain just some cloudiness today.
A bit south of Acapulco there was a nice thunderbumper early this morning along the coast.
Looking now at the Tehuantepec I can see a couple of small thumpers working along the southern shore however most of the Gulf is cloud free this morning.
Looking now at the ITCZ/Monsoon trough where it is a hotbed of thunderbumper activity this morning from the Central American coast out to around 115.
Embedded in the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning is a low that that has been designated Tropical Depression 2 echo. Environmental conditions appear to be ripe for this to develop into our first hurricane of the season. It is forecast to be upgraded to a tropical storm later today and the name will be Bud.
The forecast models have Bud as a tropical storm slowly moving north then around Thursday turn toward the coast and make landfall next weekend as a himicane.
That’s what is going on in our tropical kitchen this morning so looking now north to the west coast of America where over the upcoming week temperatures will drop about 10 degrees across the board from today.
This change in the weather pattern for the west coast is due in part by that that rather strong low and associated very cold front I mentioned earlier that is now approaching the British Columbia coast today.
The other factor is the high will be retreating to the east over the Great Basin and low pressure will build creating a gradient between the coast and the Great Basin producing gusterly conditions along the California coast starting tomorrow.
In southern California today the high pressure will slowly weaken and start a cooling trend that will last into the Memorial Day weekend. Strong winds in the mountains and deserts. The fog bank along the southern California coast is already around 1,500 ft thick and will thicken during the week.
Looking now over to the southwest where is has been hot and is getting hotter Tucson with see 106-107 today and tomorrow, Yuma up around 109 for the next two days.
Low humidity and this hot weather caused numerous fires across Arizona for the past week. National Forest spokeswoman Debby Maneely said in a report yesterday, “Probability ignition is 100 percent, which means that any windblown ember will ignite a new fire”.
Temperatures are forecast dip on Wednesday as that low off the British Columbia coast this morning moves into the Great Basin. Meantime they will be frying eggs on their car hoods.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern Sea will see moderate northerlies today and then Tuesday and Wednesday brisk southerlies.
The central Sea today will see mostly moderate northerlies today then moderate southerlies on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The southern Sea mostly light northerlies today swinging to the SW tomorrow and Wednesday.
Temperatures today could break 100 in several locations; most will be in the mid to high 90s.
73s Y’all
