Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea was quiet and hot yesterday. I was in the Bay of La Yesterday and the locals there were saying “Mucho Calor”. The thermometer in the tire shop read 104.
This image is showing the northern and central Sea to be pretty much free of any cloudiness. The southern Sea, Baja side, has been seeing some clouds from tropical storm Hector which I’ll talk about in a minute.
Looking over to Sonora the 24 hour loop is showing just a few clouds in Sonora with no thunderbumpers at all. This morning it is pretty much clear over the entire state.
Yesterday morning former Hurricane Ernesto emerged in the Pacific as a remnant low around Cabo Corrienties. Finding warm waters there it has reinvigorated itself and is now tropical storm Hector. This image is showing a lot of high topped clouds in the vicinity however the center is difficult to locate. There appears to have some circulation but not much as it heads west. The bulk of the global models show Hector to continue to move pretty much due west and strengthen somewhat today.
In the wake to Hector there is considerable cloudiness that will continue to spread around the cape from around La Paz south today. I’d expect to see isolated showers in the cape area today and fairly heavy surf. I checked the web cams at the cape and as usual when there is a storm in the area the post a shot of the last perfect day to their web cam which was the cast this morning. La Paz was showing pretty much clear skies at 7am.
The only other item in our Tropical Kitchen is a Tropical Wave that is just about to enter the Tehuantepec isthmus on the Caribbean side.
Gilma is almost off the map and on her way to Hawaii as a remnant low. There were just a few clouds in her vicinity this morning.
That’s what is going in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where today should be the hottest day of this heat wave. With high pressure starting to weaken and move off to the east it looks like next week they will see temperatures back to the August norms.
Southern California will see afternoon highs around 89 degrees. Looking over to the southwest where they will continue to see hot weather thought is looking at 107 today. High pressure should be moving out of the Great Basin late tomorrow and allow the monsoon to begin monsooning again. I’m not sure there is such a word. I guess proper weather speak would be: The monsoon will start to return on Tuesday.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the northern and central Sea will be seeing abundant sunshine and a hot afternoon.
The southern Baja coast from a bit north of La Paz will be mostly overcast today from the spin off remnant clouds from tropical storm Hector.
Tomorrow about the same pattern for the Sea however with the high moving out of the Great Basin on Tuesday the entire Sea will see strong southerlies.
