Well, according to local weather reports for the next 36 hours, we are in for A LOT OF RAIN!! Up to about two inches is what is being called for! This is good and bad. While our house no longer takes on water in a drizzle, the tender plants outside will surely take a beating!
We installed a metal roof just before Christmas last year (yup, you guessed it, no presents at this house last year) and that has kept us very dry which has been impossible the last few years. With all of the wind we have been getting, there is a dusting of pollen on the roof and I will be happy to see that removed.
As for the plants, they are desperate for water. So are our rain barrels. The one we use the most (nearest the most plants) is dry. The other, mostly empty. We water semi regularly but this will be a good soaking that is much needed for the trees and grass.
As for the train watching today, take an umbrella, it is cloudy and has been threatening rain all morning. The clouds are filtering the light nicely today. They will act as your light defuser for you so that is one less piece of equipment to hall around. You will still need lens hoods as there is still some bright sun peaking through which may hinder the sharpest angles you could attempt today. Remember, the lightning threat today is real so leave that shot on the table if you here thunder and proceed to the safest place you can, in a car or building, away from tall trees and anything that you think may possible attract lightning.
