Awhile ago I asked you to share your favorite children's books. I had lots of responses and I really enjoyed hearing your experiences with children's literature. Some of you shared the books you especially enjoyed and others shared ones they had read to their children and/or grandchildren.

Since I haven't been blogging about anything besides the weather lately, I thought I would once again open up the topic of Favorite Children's Books. I am especially interested in classics that I can read aloud to my students in elementary school grades 4-5. Last week I read Where the Wild Things Are in advance of the movie being released. The kids had seen the advertisements for the movie, but didn't know it was a Caldecott Medal book. I also read first and second graders the first story in the Curious George series. Again, they had seen the movie, but seemed surprised to have me read the book.

Thanks for sharing! I am looking forward to hearing what you all have to say!

Quick Thoughts
Posted by: JanesVacation, 11:48 AM GMT on October 12, 2009 +0
I have missed you all, but life has sped up and taken my spare time away. I sometimes long for those lazy days of summer. Cold weather has arrived and my jobs have become so much more demanding than I anticipated.

Stop by and leave me a thought or two. Or just stop by and let me know the weather in your area. I began this blog because of my interest in weather and I discovered weather and all of you dear friends.

Have a good week!

I found this image of a coffee shop in Glasgow. I wish we could all meet and have a cup of coffee together. (I liked the antiques and tablecloths!)

Home Again

I'm back home after a long weekend in Montreal celebrating my daughter's quarter century birthday. Great weather, great food, family and conversation.
Fall greeted me soon after I returned. The wind was blowing storm force winds and many green leaves were stripped from the trees. 4" of rain was recorded in our backyard rain gauge.
School keeps me busy, but I still have time for a quick walk to the lake each evening after dinner. Soon it will be too dark and I will have to pick up the pace and go after I get home from work. Ah...it seems like a long winter ahead.
