Warming up, rain saturday-wednesday, and weather pattern changing?
Posted by: JohnnyParker, 2:51 AM GMT on January 06, 2012 +4
The current temperature is 38 and it feels like 38. Highs will continue to range between 48 and 67 with lows between 28 and 52. Rain starts to come in Saturday. Precipitation chances Saturday through Wednesday will range between 30% to 60%. At this time, I am not expecting any severe weather. Heavy rain, flash flooding, and a few thunderstorms will be possible. It seems that the weather pattern is changing to somewhat more of a winter. There are a lot of things that show more of a winter pattern coming up pretty soon. One of those is the NAO going negative and the possibility of blocking occurring. Here is what I see happening: snow and cold across the North with warm and rain across the South with a big fight in between. That is rain changing over to snow for some places. I believe that our severe weather season may kick up as we get into late January into February. This depends on how long the NAO stays negative and how long the blocking occurs. I still believe that parts of the South may see a mix of rain/snow and possibly ice, but I do not expect a major snowstorm. This is just my opinion of what I think will happen. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 41, but it feels like 38. Tonights low is 36. Fridays high is 66. Friday nights low is 53 with a 30% chance of showers. Hope yall had a great Thursday and I'll have another post tomorrow morning. Continue to pray for the tornado victims and those affected by damaging weather events.
