Hey, World!
I just discovered that Weather Underground allows people to create a blog here. Very cool. Well, in Houston actually it is rather cold more than cool, but whatever.
I moved (back) to Houston from New Orleans about a year after Hurricane Katrina threw my life into a mess. I'd been working for the State of Louisiana. After Katrina I realized I had an ideal opportunity (if ever there was one) to just start my life over and take a chance on self-employment. So I moved back here to be near my kids and grands, and started dyeing yarn for knitters.
The weather affects my work, since I dry the yarn outside in the fresh air. Rainy weather means filling the bathroom with wet yarn and a fan. Not fun.
I'm also prone to weather related blues. Gray days are hard on me. Seriously, I NEEEED sunshine.
Oh yeah, and because I do not drive, and live a 40-minute walk from the nearest bus line, the weather also directly affects other parts of my life: not fun having to walk or ride my bike in the rain! And without a clothes dryer, I can't hang my laundry out on the line. And fluctuating weather patterns affects my joints, and fluctuating air pressure can spark migraine-like headaches.
Sooo... today is 50F and overcast. Yuck. But tomorrow it may rain, so I have to bike to Sam'sClub and pick up some prescriptions -- a 4.8 mile round trip on the bike. But it's warmer than yesterday, so I guess I can do it.
And then I have yarns to dye. Yaayyy me.
See ya!
