.AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR HENNEPIN AND RAMSEY COUNTIES FOR THIS THURSDAY. WEDNESDAY NIGHT...THE ARRIVAL OF A WARM FRONT WILL BRING WITH IT SOUTHWEST WINDS AND VERY WARM TEMPERATURES INTO THE TWIN CITIES AREA FOR THURSDAY. NEAR RECORD HIGHS ARE EXPECTED THURSDAY...WITH ACTUAL AIR TEMPERATURES LIKELY EXCEEDING 95 DEGREES DURING THE AFTERNOON. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. Heat Wave Developing by Midweek

A heat wave will spread into Minnesota and Wisconsin on Wednesday and last through Friday. Highs will be in the 90s during this period. Thursday should be the warmest of the three days with highs between 95 and 100 degrees. As a result, an Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for Thursday for Hennepin and Ramsey counties due to the excessive heat expected. This includes Minneapolis and St.Paul. Those working or spending time outdoors will need to keep themselves hydrated during the heat wave. Please remember to NEVER leave a person or pet in an enclosed vehicle in these conditions.

producing quarter size hail and damaging winds of 60 mph. This
storm was located near New Trier... or about 16 miles west of Red
Wing... and moving east at 15 mph.

winds of 60 mph. This storm was located near Edina... or 8 miles
southwest of Minneapolis... moving east at 15 mph.

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging wind in excess of 60 miles per
hour... large hail... and deadly lightning. For your protection move to

* at 535 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across the advisory area.
Drivers should be alert to standing water on roadways as an inch
or so of rain falls in less than an hours time.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur... especially along small streams and near low water
crossings. Some locations that will experience minor flooding
include... Minneapolis... St Paul... Bloomington... Edina... Falcon
Heights... Inver Grove Heights... Lake Elmo... Lauderdale...

CME to strike the earth

2012-07-12 19:31 Solar Eruption Today -- Further Analysis

The R3 (Strong) Radio Blackout today at 12:49 EDT (1649 UTC) was accompanied by an earth-directed CME. Hampered by limited observations of the event, SWPC forecasters are now anticipating the passage of the CME around 1:00 a.m. EDT, Saturday, July 14. G1 (minor) Geomagnetic Storm activity is expected to then ensue through the rest of the day. An S1 (minor) Solar Radiation Storm is now occurring, also a consequence of the flare/CME. The parent active region, NOAA 1520, appears to have retained its ability to erupt, so watch for more. Updates here.
