A rather nasty looking extra-tropical storm is developing from the remnants of Typhoon Lupit over the western North Pacific and is moving rapidly northeastward with winds and seas forces 10-12 developing within 360 miles south and southwest of the center during the next 24hrs then weakening gradually to force 8-11 within 480 miles in 48hrs.

High preasure over Nova Scotia combined with a low center off of Cape Hatteras will produce widespread rain with winds forces 7-8 over the coastal and offshore waters east fo the Middle Atlantic and Southern New England coast for the next 2 days. Surface Map

At 11:00AM EDT August 19th Hurricane Bill was continuing its WNW track, now with max winds of 115 knots. Hurricane force winds (Force 12) or more extend outward 70 NM to the northeast and 30 NM to the southwest. Storm force winds (force 10) or higher extend out 100 NM to the northeast and 60 NM to the southwest. At 11:00AM EDT August 18th Hurricane Bill was becoming very well organized with a very large eye measuring some 35-40nm across and max sustained winds estimated at 90kts. Currently storm force winds (Force 10) or higher extend outward 45nm to the SW and 65nm to the NE of the center. TD2 that all but dissipated started to reorganize and strengthen overnight and has been named TS Ana this morning. Currently Ana is moving westward at 14kts. Forecast suggest a continued westward track for the next day or two then turn more towards the WNW eventually taking Ana near or over the Bahamas.
