Come and "LIKE" our FACEBOOK PAGE Link

SKYWARN is a concept developed in the early 1970's to promote a cooperative effort between the National Weather Service and the communities they serve. Emphasis is focused on developing storm spotters; trained volunteers that report hazardous weather conditions to their local forecast office. In Cape May County this activity is directed by a SKYWARN Coordinator appointed by our Parent Command, the NWSFO Mt. Holly NJ.

This activity enhances the alert and warning process and the confidence of watches and warnings.

The CMCSPOTTERS YAHOOGROUPS list is a simple way for all SKYWARN Spotters, and, amateur radio operators in the Cape May County CWA, to be advised of upcoming events, nets, drills, and actual Severe Weather operations via the internet.

Cape May County SKYWARN encourages Amateur Radio Operation in support of fulfilling the NWS SKYWARN Mission and performs Emergency Weather Communications Support for the NWS Mt. Holly NJ during periods of Severe Communication outages or weather emergencies. Utilization of VHF/UHF/HF, Image and Digital modes are used to accomplish this tasking. WX2CMC NCS conducts weekly training in cooperation with the Cape May County Senior Weather Spotters to maintain a corps of skilled SKYWARN Spotters utilizing Amateur Radio.

Evening, N2jaiCapeMayNJ! I see you are from down the shore. My grandparents live down there in North Cape May. I know several people from the area. I'm from up in Camden County near the city of Camden itself.

when i was a kid, we used to go to Wildwood NJ for a month and rent an apartment and go to beach every day and to the boardwalk at night, it was a blast. 1970-1977, then i graduated and moved to Houston. how long have you lived there? oh I loved that place. I asked my dad (lives in Ohio) how much that apartment used to cost him for the month. it was $125 a week and it was 3 bdrm, there were 4 of us kids. hope to talk more with you.

WOW - Boy did the severe weather season come early and nastily to some parts of the country.

Our hearts from Cape May County SKYWARN go out to all the folks who have suffered the loss of a loved one or injury, and for the tremendous property damage as late as yesterday. Be sure to give "MONEY" to the Salvation Army and The American Red Cross as you can.

The NWS and the Weather Channel and the many Offices of Emergency Management have tirelessly campaigned to get citizens, schools, hospitals and anywhere people lodge or congregate for events etc to stay aware of fast breaking severe weather !

One of the best ways to protect your family and friends besides self awareness and keeping an eye to the sky, is to acquire, use 24/7, and maintain (battery) of a NOAA ALL HAZARDS WEATHER RADIO

This modestly priced radio receiver ( models $35 to $60 b bucks)has saved lives and will save more lives, maybe your own or members of your family !!!! I love my family - just sayin !

Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and purchase one of these straight away, like NOW before you forget! Here is a link to the NOAA WEATHER RADIO INFORMATION:Link

Have a great day and Keep an Eye to the SKY and a fresh battery in your NEW NOAA ALL HAZARDS WEATHER RADIO!

Well for the moment Cape May County has been spared severe weather. On the other hand it has been very dry with many Red Flag Warnings with several fires in Southern New Jersey. We could use a good sloww wet down in the region and a significant enough rain to help the beginning of the growing season without over flooding the filds that are being, and have to be plowed ! Guess we are looking for a perfect world. !

Have a great upcoming weekend folks and REMEMBER

ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES,

yeah yeah yeah, I am 61 years old and it still means a lot to me.
