... two weeks pass ...

And my radiation shield has arrived!

the L-bracket is not metal... but we are going to roll with the punches and mount it anway,
I am adding one slight modification

solar powered cooling, this is a small (obviously) 5v fan (.27A) and three 1.5v 200mA solar panels, wired in series

here it is mounted in the bottom of the shield

and this is my super duty attachment of my wiring terminal block to the exterior of the shield

and the "mounting" of the solar panels together, plastic and Gorilla glue were meant for each other

looking down from the top (removed) of the shield at the fan, this is the "LX" version which allows for the fan,
I am not sure this would have fit in the smaller shield even without the fan

and finally mounted to the antenna mast

the panel is facing ESE as that is the position of the sun when I had my highest temperature fluctuations;
I likely will change the mount to elevate the panel but for the winter this will work

I will clean up the wiring after I determine that this really is working; a week's worth of data should reflect success

Look for an update regarding my success with the radiation shield.
