I went digging and found some pics of Bug to contribute. What a fun life she's had! And I must say, it was a lot of fun showing her life on the bayou. Here she is at Café Des Amis in Breaux Bridge....
And here she is flirting with some dude and the ghost of Longfellow at the Evangeline Oak in St. Martinville...
She got to go out on the bayou in a pirogue...
She stopped by an oyster house at Bayou Dularge and visited with Wendy, the original Bayou Woman....
And she took her ease on the gallery of a fine Cajun home, just like she had good sense!
It was such a wonderful trip I'm ready to do it all over again - or maybe head off in a different direction!
HAPPY 50th! You are such wonderful people you'll last BEYOND forever :)
Gams, I made both the BareFoot and Subtropic cutouts.
We hung Bug at the pancake breakfast...
(PS. Sub and BareFoot are still on top of each other at my house "behind closed doors"...
This is also the day Damon fell in love with BF:
Congratulations!
What a rare and wonderful thing - to be married as a teen and celebrate your 50th anniversary. Congratulations to you and hubby! And a halibut dinner to boot. You guys sure know how to live it up.
:)
Thanks to you and commenters for the photo trip down Memory Lane of Bug's travels that began at the 2007 pancake breakfast. Wow. Seems like eons ago. I'm sure her knee will mend fine and she'll soon be up and around enjoying the Florida sights.
(edit)
Thanks everyone for all the pictures you brought in last night after my last visit. I love looking at them all.
What a trip down memory lane!
I brought BeachFoxx/Donna but not sure who has her now. I don't think she made the trip back home with me.
She may be with Beth who has Karen and Emmy???
Good morning everyone!!! What a fun blog this has been the past few days!!!
Enjoy your day.
Sandi; I just tried the link it I don't get any notices; it's just a link to the WU blog with photos from the drive from Florida to Cape Cod, with "The Ladies" riding up front by the windshield.
I'm so glad you don't have the screwdriver up your back any more! (Lorne stole it- I have no idea where it is, now!) You must feel loads better!
Gamms I think Beth has Sandi too. As for the others I don't know. What fun it is to look back at a funtime shared by us all. I just saw Paul's little boy who is now a handsome young man. I think he just graduated from sixth grade and is going to a school specializing in Marine Science. I try to stay in touch with Paul.
I just remember we didn't get to stay at the breakfast due to Steve's knee. He had knee replacement about two months later. Not a funtime for us.
Thanks again everyone for all the well wishes. Steve and I had a great day and plan to have many more years of fun together.
Sandi so sorry about the screwdriver but it was the only way dumb me could figure out how to make you stand up. Beth I have just cursed that screwdriver. My artistic ability .....isn't.
Bug getting new hinges today.
Thanks for cursing the screw driver! If Karma truly works, Lorne will be cursed, anyways!
Shore thanks for posting your pictures. What fun and what a lovely book I received from you. Bug has become one of the fun people we all love on WU. Her image of herself (Flat Bug) is so dear to all of us.
Thank you too for your kind words about Steve and me. We just kind of stumbled along and before ya know it we have fifty terrific years under our belt. Our story is just plain amazing. The good, the bad and the ugly. On to twenty or thirty more years together.
Hot here today at 90degrees with humidity of 61%. We have now entered the mildew season but I am happy we finally got rain.
BF, Ally, Ylee, Jus and Finn, thanks for stopping in and making this whole blog so much fun. I hope to add more pictures of Bug as her knee feels better and she can travel from the guest bedroom.
Sandi you look so happy with no screwdriver up your back and in Beth's window.
Bug's knee is fixed and she is feeling much better but still relaxing.
Hurt my back over the weekend, and the screwdriver might help!
So glad the knee surgery was successful... :-)
Sandi of course you may have another screw driver! So sorry about your back. Just take it real easy and try not to do anything to aggravate your problem.
Bug spent most of the day resting after her knee surgery. Today I think she will be good to go.......everywhere and anywhere.
Finn not a fun evening. 20,000 strikes of lightning.
After her knee surgery and still with a smile on her face Bug asked me about the whole Casey Anthony mess that went on in Central Florida. I told her that Jeff Ashton could tell the story better in his book. So Bug chose to sit down and read Jeff's book. This would take the pressure off her knee and she so enjoys reading.
I take great care while wood working. A little nick while I'm taking the rat poison causes great amounts of blood.
Enjoy your day while we play in the puddles.
Follow Bug Tales as she cruises around Central Florida.
Love Bug's bandanna!
Fresh Halibut, especially one you hooked yourself, a great treat. I have caught one in my few attempts, there is a quota fishery here in the Bay of Fundy, mostly caught by this time of year, price good this year around $8/lb, much better thant lobster price.
Alaska on the Bucket List, have been to interior of B.C., and a brief time in NorthWest Territories never over to Alaska - yet.
ROB
Nose deep in a book!
Sorry to be late posting my anniversary wishes.
Happy 50th!
WOW.... 50 years. I remember when my grandparents had their big 50th bash, with all the family and all of their friends.
Has anyone besides me noticed that our grandparents looked and dressed so much older looking than people of the same age these days? Esp the women. They looked so matronly even in their 40s. Maybe it was the hair styles, dresses and those 'nun mugger' shoes they wore.
Nun mugger shoes are shoes that look like you mugged a nun to get them. One of the ones that wore the long black habits.
I really did have a very busy weekend and every time I thought I'd grab a couple of minutes to blog, another chore or errand reared its ugly head.
Afternoon Bug, I too remember my grandparents 50th. They got all sorts of gold stuff and the one gift I remember the most is a black panther with diamond (fake) eyes. i never could figure out what that had to do with a 50th wedding anniversary.
Our celebrating will take place this weekend when we celebrate Wed anniv, Father's Day and son's birthday.
Wanted to let you know we just finished the final Downton Abbey. We are now ready for the new ones next season. I just love this show. So well done and so much fun to watch the dowager. I am still in love with Bates and it will be interesting to see what happens to him.
I will try to let you have lots of fun while you are here.
Isn't that show addictive? LOL
Shirly MacLaine is going to be in the next season. She is Lady Grantham's mother.
It remains to be seen if they can spring Bates from the chokey.
I was hoping to see Randy but it was another crew.
Still interesting, though!
I will have to watch Hurricane Hunters. We just might see "Our Randy". I bet he will miss going up with the guys this year. Who knows maybe we won't even have any storms.
Have fun with your cousins. it is nice that you stay in touch with all of them. Enjoy your dad's this weekend.
Shirly MacLane will be a wonderful addition. She will most likely cause trouble.
Good night Bug, see ya in the morning. Thanks for helping me clean up the guest bedroom for this weekend. Even though you just sat in the rocking chair it was fun to have you to talking to you.
LOL - I laughed when I saw this .... I found I did the same!!
We have sunshine this morning, so I am going to get out with the camera while it lasts! Rain again tomorrow through to Sunday! :-(
OK, already! We have had enough!
Sandi, so do I. I just do it with out my alter ego sitting there. One of these days they're going to fit me with one of those odd white suits, with the extra long sleeves and all those straps.
We also looked at some of my stuffed animals. She liked the TBear from the Rusty Parrot in Jackson Hole Wyoming the best.
Karen is right......right ear.......wrong ear. Sorry Bug.
You're posting below of a more decorative "Bug" is a hoot! She seriously seems to have more style and ambition than I do right now. LOL! Glad to know that she's continuing to receive the royal treatment while visiting yet another close friend or host with the most. LOL!
May you both have a most enjoyable Wednesday!
Good point Ylee.
Bug is up and about. She just had her first cup of coffee. Today she is being my support for carpet cleaning. We have just moved all the furniture. Brian will be here around noon. He does and excellent job and is very quick. Lots of the furniture is stacked out on the Lanai. Now we just have to hope there is no hard rain. The carpet will not be dry enough to put furniture on until tomorrow morning.
We can sit it on pieces of plastic if we need to.
I do think the hibiscus added a little je ne se quios to my allure..
Carpet cleaning? It seems I arrived right smack dab in the middle of, not spring cleaning, but summer cleaning!
When she was with me she spent her time as a lady of leisure... expecting me to fetch and carry!!
She even expected me to push her around in a buggy!! lol
Sandi, Bug has to walk around here. We are trying to make her knee stronger. Don't know what we will be doing today. I have lots of laundry so maybe Bug will be willing to help me fold clothes. We shall see.
Quite a collection of memories.
Thanks Rob for stopping by.
Happy Friday Real Bug!
Happy Saturday back at ya Sandi. Just getting food ready for the guys this weekend. Son is headed over from Tampa on Sun and will stay until Tues. We are celebrating his birthday and Father's Day. Just gonna kick back and grill steaks outside. Hope you have a great weekend too Sandi.
Happy "whatever-you-celebrate" :)
Ya Sandi, we will celebrate too. I have a cake that says, Happy Brithday, Happy Father's Day, Happy Anniversary and Happy Whatever.....
Enjoy your time - and those steaks. Sounds good!
ADD: It's me, being confused. Jane is the one heading to Italy - I just found her entry on Sandi's blog. Shoot - I thought Bug might be going international again!
