Happy Day After the 4th.

Glad you are back Bug....
Bug I had hoped to put you on the plane with me but with all the TSA problems they probably would have thought you were a weapon. So I am glad you decided to go for a ride with the UPS guys. You were packed so cozy in the box with our fishing clothes and made it to my house in perfect shape. I know it must have been kind of hard to sleep with all that noise in from the UPS guys in Louisville.

Flat Bug tired after a long hike on the Homer Spit.

First for those who are new WU bloggers Flat Bug was made by Palmenttobug who lives in Charleston, NC to represent herself. The first big meet and greet for WU bloggers was held in Central Florida by PeaceRiver. It was a breakfast. This took place in 2007. Beth (PR) made pancakes for all of us who attended the meet and greet. Another of our WU bloggers collected from each of us gifts for underprivileged kids as this breakfast was held at Christmas time. These gifts were given to a Firestation that was helping give kids a good Christmas. PB was not able to attend so she made a replica of herself and sent it to Peace. Over the past five years flat Bug has visited many places with many different hostesses.

Her last home for a year was in Sterling, Alaska with Alaskasnowluvr. This is a very busy household with two teenage boys and a dad that hunts and fishes. Bug had a wonderful time while she was there but was ready to come back to the lower 48. On my last trip to Alaska I picked Bug up from Alaskasnowluvr in Sterling. Bug will be with me for a while as she decides where she would like to go next

Located 29 miles east of Kenai and 2-3 hours from Anchorage, Sterling enjoys a brisk tourist trade with a focus on sportfishing and hunting. Visitors to the area can book guided fishing adventures or hunting trips..

Hugs all around. This was the first time I met Tori (Alaskasnowluvr) in person. This was the formal changing of Bug's address from Sterling, Alaska to Winter Springs, Florida.

I will list the dates and hostess that Bug has visited in my next post. I will also post some pictures as I get them loaded into the computer.

Happy Anniversary, OGal, to you and Hubby! That's a remarkable achievement - 50 years of anything is pretty good. Fifty years of marriage? Amazing. I'm really a little shocked, though - I never would have guessed you were old enough to be celebrating a 50th anniversary. Child bride? Well, maybe - but ten's pretty young to marry, don't you think? I went digging and found some pics of Bug to contribute. What a fun life she's had! And I must say, it was a lot of fun showing her life on the bayou. Here she is at Café Des Amis in Breaux Bridge.... And here she is flirting with some dude and the ghost of Longfellow at the Evangeline Oak in St. Martinville... She got to go out on the bayou in a pirogue... She stopped by an oyster house at Bayou Dularge and visited with Wendy, the original Bayou Woman.... And she took her ease on the gallery of a fine Cajun home, just like she had good sense! It was such a wonderful trip I'm ready to do it all over again - or maybe head off in a different direction! Hello OGal, What a rare and wonderful thing - to be married as a teen and celebrate your 50th anniversary. Congratulations to you and hubby! And a halibut dinner to boot. I thought Finn made BF, and I put it in above the picture at first then took it out because I was not 100% sure and did not want to hurt any feelings if someone else had done that great work of art! Gamms I think Beth has Sandi too. As for the others I don't know. What fun it is to look back at a funtime shared by us all. I just saw Paul's little boy who is now a handsome young man. I think he just graduated from sixth grade and is going to a school specializing in Marine Science. I try to stay in touch with Paul. I just remember we didn't get to stay at the breakfast due to Steve's knee. He had knee replacement about two months later. Not a funtime for us. Thanks again everyone for all the well wishes. Steve and I had a great day and plan to have many more years of fun together. Sandi so sorry about the screwdriver but it was the only way dumb me could figure out how to make you stand up. Shore thanks for posting your pictures. What fun and what a lovely book I received from you. Bug has become one of the fun people we all love on WU. Her image of herself (Flat Bug) is so dear to all of us. Thank you too for your kind words about Steve and me. We just kind of stumbled along and before ya know it we have fifty terrific years under our belt. Our story is just plain amazing. The good, the bad and the ugly. On to twenty or thirty more years together. Hot here today at 90degrees with humidity of 61%. We have now entered the mildew season but I am happy we finally got rain. After her knee surgery and still with a smile on her face Bug asked me about the whole Casey Anthony mess that went on in Central Florida. I told her that Jeff Ashton could tell the story better in his book. So Bug chose to sit down and read Jeff's book. This would take the pressure off her knee and she so enjoys reading. Fresh Halibut, especially one you hooked yourself, a great treat. I have caught one in my few attempts, there is a quota fishery here in the Bay of Fundy, mostly caught by this time of year, price good this year around $8/lb, much better thant lobster price. Oh, ho, so that's where I've been all weekend. Nose deep in a book! Sorry to be late posting my anniversary wishes. Happy 50th! WOW.... 50 years. I remember when my grandparents had their big 50th bash, with all the family and all of their friends. Has anyone besides me noticed that our grandparents looked and dressed so much older looking than people of the same age these days? Esp the women. They looked so matronly even in their 40s. Maybe it was the hair styles, dresses and those 'nun mugger' shoes they wore. Nun mugger shoes are shoes that look like you mugged a nun to get them. One of the ones that wore the long black habits. I really did have a very busy weekend and every time I thought I'd grab a couple of minutes to blog, another chore or errand reared its ugly head. Afternoon Bug, I too remember my grandparents 50th. They got all sorts of gold stuff and the one gift I remember the most is a black panther with diamond (fake) eyes. i never could figure out what that had to do with a 50th wedding anniversary. Our celebrating will take place this weekend when we celebrate Wed anniv, Father's Day and son's birthday. Wanted to let you know we just finished the final Downton Abbey. We are now ready for the new ones next season. I just love this show. So well done and so much fun to watch the dowager. I am still in love with Bates and it will be interesting to see what happens to him. I will try to let you have lots of fun while you are here. I had to clean the guest bedroom so Bug said she would join me. I also showed her my double hibiscus. She said she wanted to put it in her hair .......so I did. She said be sure to put it behind my left ear because I am married. We also looked at some of my stuffed animals. She liked the TBear from the Rusty Parrot in Jackson Hole Wyoming the best. Bug is up and about. She just had her first cup of coffee. Today she is being my support for carpet cleaning. We have just moved all the furniture. Brian will be here around noon. He does and excellent job and is very quick. Lots of the furniture is stacked out on the Lanai. Now we just have to hope there is no hard rain. Bug decided she wanted to go see the chickens in downtown Oviedo. She was amazed that they were just allowed to run loose. Oviedo is a little community just east of Winter Springs. Happy everything! Did I just see that you're off to Italy? I can't even remember where I saw it, so I can double check. If you are - have a wonderful time.
