Wedding Day & Noel the morning after.....
Nov. 4th, 2007
Good Morning, Folks!
First let me say that you all are the BEST! Thanks so much to all of those who posted yesterday and this AM with your kind comments! We lost power before the wedding, so it was a bit dark, the the candles and fire in the fireplace made for a romantic setting and the wedding was beautiful!
We finally made it home about 10:30 last night and found The Ark still upright and a very happy Sammy the Puppy greeted us with very evident relief! The worst of Noel had passed by then.
The sun is shining today and we have a post-wedding party to attend this afternoon, after we pick up everything we left at the Inn.
I'll be putting up another blog shortly with photos from the wedding.
Thanks again for all the well-wishes!!!
November 3rd, 2007
The big day has arrived.... and so has Noel! It's blustery and rainy here, but the heaviest rains and winds are yet to come and are expected later this morning.
We are headed over to the Inn around 10:30 to decorate for my daughter Virginia's wedding, which should take about an hour and then we'll return back to The Ark to wait out the storm. The wedding doesn't start until 6:30 and we're all hoping that the worst of Noel has passed by then.
Thanks to all who have sent their well wishes to my daughter and her fiance! It's been a long road (over six years) getting to the alter for them and they've worked hard to put on a nice ceremony and reception.
I'll try to get some photos of Noel as well as the wedding!
Some of you may know that one of my daughters is getting married on November 3rd, so as you can imagine, this is a VERY busy time for us!
The Bride-to-be is a 25 year old teacher and still going to college full time to work on her next degree. She works very hard between being a teacher/student and has also put a lot into her wedding preparations. I'm glad we could be here to help her get things together. I'm happy to be useful- since I can hem the Bride's Maids' gowns and do most of the decorating- I may not be good at the etiquette and traditions part of planning a wedding - but I am good with my hands! My latest assignment is to make shawls for the Bride and Bride's Maids so they won't freeze during the outdoor ceremony. Let's hope the weather cooperates! If any of you have an influence with the Weather Gods, please put in a request for a really balmy, calm day on 11/3!
Photos of the Inn and garden where the ceremony and reception will take place:
It's been a warm fall while we've been visiting up here in New England (thankfully!) but I'm sure that real fall weather will be upon us, soon; those brisk, chilly days when the wind is blowing out of the north and you can feel it's bite and taste the snow that will soon be in the air! But, for now, the leaves are still mostly green, with just a few bright reds, oranges and yellows peeking out like a scattering of colorful birds perched in the foliage.
We've been making this extended visit so we can attend my daughter's November 3rd wedding, but also so that hubby, Lorne, can take advantage of a good job offer he had for late summer and fall, so we're grateful that the mild weather has hung in there this long. It means we can stay in comfort in The Ark (our motor home) and that Lorne's job will continue, since it is seasonal work.
On a different note:
I've had a few requests to post photos from my daughter's Bridal Shower and Brother's Birthday party on line - if anyone is interested in checking them out click on the Happy Camper's link, on the right hand side of this page, go to "Photos" from menu on left and then click on "Beth's Misc." I don't know if you have to sign up to look at the site's photos, but it's free if you do.
Announcement: Sammy has new half brothers and sisters! Copy & past this addres to check them out! http://www.congocoon.com/puppy.html So cute!!!
Today is Sammy's first birthday! Those of you who went through the waiting process with us last fall will remember the anticipation we felt about getting a new puppy, and you also helped us choose his name- Samson, but we are calling him Sammy until he grows into his full name. He's still playful and a little goofy, but he's very smart and slowly revealing his adult personality.
We've been delighted to have him as a member of our family. He hasn't finished growing yet (I'm told that the male Bernese Moutnain Dogs don't fully mature until they're at least two years old) but he's grown into a great companion and he's a gentle and loving playmate for our grand-daughter.
Happy Birthday, Sammy!
Sammy, 7.5 weeks old
Sammy at 10 weeks
Sammy at 5 months
Sammy at almost 8 months
Sammy at 10 months
Sammy at 11.5 months, having breakfast with our grand-daughter.
