The Ark Music Festival - 2nd Annual

Welcome to The Ark

It's a few days earlier than last year, but who's counting.
Last year we had a blast and I think everyone enjoyed rediscovering old tunes with new friends as well as being exposed to things that were new and different to them.

At the risk of sounding repetitive I'll copy and paste the header from last year...

Hey Everybody it's Music Time!

Some of you already know that music is a big part of my life. I know there are some here with musical backgrounds, others who just like to listen, or sing along. However you derive your enjoyment of music, here's your chance to share your favorite tunes. You can put up a YouTube video, Lyrics, a favorite memory involving music, or a note about how music has effected your life.

I think that 99.9 percent of us can agree that, while beauty is in the eye of the beholder...all in all music is a good thing and has a net positive influence upon our lives.

I enjoy many varied types of music, from Metal to Classical, Rodgers and Hammerstein to Kid Rock, Lerner and Loewe to Deep Purple. and it goes on forever.

Won't put too much more here, else I won't have anything for the comments later...but the point is, post your favorites, and give a listen to other folks posts. You may discover whole new flavors...or you might find a favored old memory awakened. LOL Angie insist that my brain is organized by what music was playing at the time...

Two things I ask...
1.)keep it clean. There's a lot of stuff I like that I can't post here. If it's not suitable for the WU, you can always post the name and artist and folks can look it up for themselves.

2.) (and I know I don't have to say this to my regulars) Be respectful of other peoples preferences. Remember, your parents probably hated your music too!

If you don't know how to post a video...don't worry, you can do it...in the Help and Tutorial blog (link below) you will find illustrated instructions to help you through.

Have Fun!

Big time burnout!
Will try to make it back here later...no promises though! Turkey is almost done, Angie is almost home...whew!

I'm So Tired
The Beatles

I love watching Louis Armstrong sing...he always looks so happy to be singing. How can you not smile back!
A truly great entertainer!

Heard a High School drum line (circa 1970) actually play the drum solo. Good tuning of the drums and and perfect timing. All drums individual.

Dan,
Great tune...one of the ones you had to be able to play in high school to be called a good drummer. Thanks!

Memories of riding around in my best friends truck looking for trouble in High School. He was a whole lot country...I was way rock and roll, but Merle was cool either way! This was one of my favs. Since then, I've seen that girl in a hundred clubs...

#12 - Wow, Gomez. Of all the bands, that is one I wouldn't have expected to appear!

(A song referring to the main train station in Manchester. No idea why, but hey! Nice tune.)

#14 - Good choice, Surfie! That song means a lot to me on a personal level. Reminding of getting through bad times into the good.

A couple of feel-good ones:

LOL

Told you I was tired! Slept 10 hours!
The turkey was good, but I'm thinkin' hasenpfeffer this weekend. Seems that a rabbit ate the tops off a couple of my bell peppers last night and half the leafs off 2 of the jalapeƱos. Should be easy to distinguish the culprit...I'll just look for a trail of red hots!

Thank you all for all the great tunes...I'll wait until my eyes and ears are fully open before I try to post any.

In other news, I was awakened at one point when Angie came in to tell me of a huge raccoon on the deck. She was saying something about the cat going bonkers (Kiki has a very distorted image of her own size and ferocity) and Angie looked out and saw it. She opened the door and chased it away.

I said "Okay", rolled over and went back to sleep.

This morning she made some comment about the dog and I both sleeping through it...I said, "Well, it's not like it was a bear or anything..you girls oughta be able to handle a raccoon!"

Hey Todd!

Regarding my post on the old blog yesterday...if you try to fry leftover grits, make sure you have a lid or spatter shield ready when you put them in the pan.

I thought after boiling and sitting in the fridge overnight that surely they were dead...not so...little suckers started jumping out of the hot oil and all over the kitchen!
LOL
