Hi everyone.... Busy times leave me no free time to blog! Hope all is well!
Good Tune!
Foxxy!
Nice to see you. Stop by when you have time.
Long Video Conference call in 5.
see you guys tomorrow.
Rest well, and Thanks!
I have got to spend more time at WU....
To see what everyone is up to.
Things will slow down soon,
Hopefully - been swamped with marketing and whatnots.
Tell Angie hi!
Hi Foxxy!!!
Its super easy. I use a Duncan Hines cake mix.
The normal receipe calls for 1 cup of water, 3 large eggs, and 1/3 cup of oil.
To make a pound cake you change that to 1/2 cup of water, 4 large eggs, and 1/2 cup Crisco oil. You also add 1 box of Jello instant pudding.
Sometimes its the little things that make things easier. I let the four eggs warm up a little on the counter for ten minutes before I put them in a seperate mixing bowl. Scramble the eggs with a fork, and then put the oil into the bowl and scramble again, then put the water in(I use bottled water without chlorine) and scramble again. Then put that mixture in the bowl with the cake mix and use a hand mixer on low speed to blend well and then on high speed.
Spray a Bundt baking pan with Pam, pour it in, and bake at 350* for 33 to 35 minutes. Let the bundt pan sit on a cooling rack for 15 minutes and then turn it upside down on a cake server. Let it cool for another 30 minutes without the top on it and then you can put your favorite frosting on it. SugarBear likes the Betty Crocker Rich and Creamy Triple Chocolate Fudge Chip frosting.
A slice of that cake with a scoop of Edys Double Vanilla Ice cream with a cherry on top and you have a real crowd pleaser!
You scoundrel, you had us all worried all week.
Next time you borrow a computer and check in to let us know you are OK.
Am I clear about that?
Good. :)
BTW, its good to see you! :)
Could be a wild and crazy day around here.
Darn, no yard work today, what a shame. :)
Accepted....
'twas a Crazy Time around here, but that's a Lame Excuse. Sorry. Wont happen again.
Spent some days in the Mountains with more visitors from UK (she was recently the curator of the Chelsea Physic Garden -google that!- and it was great.) And we were busy with W&S in abundance.
Good to be back amongst Friends here though.
Today I will spend some time trying to get up to answering dozens of e-mails and sending messages of "we are back" to all and sundry!
A Special Greeting to the Ladies around here.
BBL>>>>>>>
Will unplug and go battery powered when it gets here.
Better put the full head motorcycle helmets in the Master Bedroom Closet. :)
Too bad I don't have two small reserve chutes that go around your waist.
When the roof goes and we got sucked out we could pull the handles on the chute.
Don't laugh, it might work. :)
As long as you didn't get hit by a flying cow or something.:)
Dang RTL, that mess is getting close!
Keep your head down and don't worry about that big umbrella!
Starting to feel a little guilty over how nice it is here today.
Just a little, mind you.
Flying cows??
Watch out for flying cow-manure, too.....
Looks kind of exciting there, Snake.
I'm happy to be here under a gentle drizzle coming straight down with no wind at all.
Keep us posted...
Yeah, don't do like Pottery and keep us in suspense...(hehhehheh) If you can't get on line after the storm passes, call me and I'll post an update.
Poor SugarBear!
You're just about through the worst if I'm reading the map right. Barring anything breaking off of that stuff to your west. Tell SB she's gonna be okay...I said a prayer for her after all!
Remind me sometime to tell you the story of Angie and Hurricane Charlie.
I think you are out of the woods. I'm going back to tending the BBQ.
This time roughly in the center of a triangle between Columbus, Macon, and Albany, GA
Storms are all south of us now, time for a nap. :)
A shame about the cow manure though....
I was sure you would get some!
Better luck next time. Good for the plants, you know.
I seem to remember that someone in this crew either is a HAM or interested in the field. I could be wrong, but.... I was looking around google for something, and found an absolute treasure. My folks built our new house in the "Denniston subdivision" of Newton, Iowa, in the late 50s. Bob Denniston, who gave his name to it, was quite a HAM operator. When I was in Liberia, he helped with phone patches to my folks.
As it turns out, when Bob left Newton, he went to Tortola and ran The Smugglers' Cove Hotel and Beach Bar. I didn't have a clue about that. Anyway, it's pretty interesting, and you can read more here. Being a dinosaur who remembers the days when this stuff was important and who got my license when Morse Code still was required, I love the old war stories. You, on the other hand, are free to roll your eyes and ignore it!
Old war stories, Ha! Brother is a ham and part of a bunch who practice up for disaster response. Pulled volunteer shifts at his local fire station in the tidewater region last year when Irene blew through. Still the most reliable form of communication when the "grid" goes down.
Dinosaurs and War Stories always welcome here.
When I was a child, I was fortunate to have old folks around who took the time to talk to me and teach me things. One guy built cable systems in New York. He come down here every winter. He would let me hang out, teach me about electronics and his Ham Radio, CB, etc. I was mesmerized by all the dials and gizmos in the room full of stuff he had and the smell of the place (electronics had an odor back then) and the feel of the air.
There were others, like the old Swede who taught me how to sail and how to build my first wooden sailboat from plywood laced together with wire and fiberglassed. A couple other guys who always had carpentry projects going on. Another rebuilt antique cars...
Old soldiers and sailors told me of faraway places and things both wonderful and horrific. My education was greatly expanded and enhanced by these guys who took the time and had the patience to invest a young kid who was hungry for knowledge.
They are all gone now, but live on in my memories.
My neighbor across the street is former DX'er. He used to have a set that was attached to 60-80 extension aerial. Think his wattage was way up there but hate to quote from memory. My other neighbor tells the story about one memorable night the DOC powered up his net to talk to his brother in Spain. It is the fourth quarter of SB III, the Jets have regained the ball and Joe N is on the move. All of a sudden, the screen goes into a tizzy and the clear dulcet tone of a craggy voice in the best Catalonian reverb through the house. The Doc had struck again.
Some years later the Doc gave up his equipment and actually sold the antenna to a fellow in Conn but he still has his books and memories.
When we moved to the neighborhood, he gave me a filter for the tv after I asked my neighbor about the voice over on the tube. Never lost video but the voice of Pat Summerall describing a Redskins draw play in Catalonian was funny.
That's funny, but I bet not everyone in the neighborhood was laughing!
It's kinda hard to imagine in today's world with modern communications, 500 channels on the TV, etc., but I remember how impressive it was to hear voices in strange languages from all over the world. Couldn't tell what a lot of them were saying, but listened in amazement...my world had just expanded.
Oh, morning guys, what a great night's sleep, went to bed at 2100 hours and woke up at 0615. Have not done that for months!
Have to take SugarBear some coffee, be right back.
You have a one track mind!
LOL
Good morning.
Forecast calls for more storms today but I don't see anything on the radar yet.
We were blessed around here yesterday, tornados north and south of us but nothing here in Macon except heavy rain and lightning.
Supposed to hit 80 here this afternoon.
No rain.
Might do a little gardening today then just chill out on the deck. Hope it's this nice when you come down. Might even get to use the pool.
You watch, it will snow here in Feb while we are in Disney World and St. Pete and we will miss it! :)
When we leave St. Pete we are going to spend a few days at my Son's place in Florahome and then head back to Macon.
In the spring we are planning to take a week and see family in Arkansas. Going to have to dodge the spring storms to do that trip.
Headed for Church, see you later.
LOL
I rather thought that was the point of coming to FL!
Have a good day man.
Catch ya later.
That was close. Wasn't paying attention to the calendar and a special little princess has a birthday today! Good thing I realized and called. Could have lost my "Best Uncle in the Whole Wide World" title.
Last year in school they were supposed to make a Valentines card. Guess who she made it for?
Yep!
I melted!
:o)
8 years old.
I guess maybe I have a little more time to enjoy this.
Nothing to report, EXCEPT.......my homemade fish chum was a winner. Just need a little more slick near the end, that is why I have fish chopped in a gallon jug with the cheapest oil I could find on the back deck bakin in the sun. LOL
LOL J/K
giddy up little doggy
Show tunes?
Go for it Ski!
Rob is heading for a nap.
Been up since 12:30 am.
That's 0030 for 'Snake.
See you later.
LMAO of course I can play them, your going to bed.
You are a jewel.... Sounds delicious. I haven't baked a cake in forever, but a Choc pound cake sure sounds good. Maybe next weekend.
HI EVERYONE!!!
Oh, and I'm actually going to buy ice cream!! Yummy!
The radio for the teams play by is blocked over here. There is a way you can listen but it is 40 bucks for two games. So ixnay. Watched the progress on a browser's twit. Slow. Have a sol'n for the next one however. How bout dem Giants. Game was over about 4:45 here. So short sleep ration.
Looks like more boomers are coming today.
Weather service here confirmed two tornados on Saturday NE and SW of Macon.
Strangest winter I've seen here in four years.
Better go check the radar and make some plans for the rest of the day.

That is a great site. Just downloaded that radar shot onto the Doc's blog. Thanks.
Missed the pre-dawn shift today.
Was my turn to be comatose.
There was the part at 0230 where the cat decided a bag of potatoes was alive and it was her job to kill it. Now I know a new use for the faucet spray thing. Maybe she was just trying to make me hash browns.
