Locally~ I've had 0.21" so far.
By the moon it's a great day to plant aboveground crops.

Bogon~ Great point.. You may enjoy this animation page.
The Palomar map shows seasonal variations in weather patterns across latitude. I would like to see a similar map which could show the effects of teleconnections across longitude. That's what I was getting at with my remarks about how many high pressure cells could fit into an ocean. Weather patterns have characteristic wavelengths that stretch across geography.
Left you a reply on my blog. Really happy for you for the good things that happened to you over the weekend. Glad you got some recognition for your beautiful art. And...the robot rocks!
Thanks for sharing the news when I needed something to make me smile.
Hope you have a great day!
Couldn't resist one last March plant pic:
Jack Bean (Canavalia ensiformis) seedlings germinated with 100% success after an overnight soak in a very dilute hydrogen peroxide solution. The seedling in front has a 2-3 day headstart after being germinated in a makeshift humidity chamber made from a discarded soda pop container. I cut the bottle near the top where it was a little wider, drilled some drainage holes, then sealed both pieces together with packing tape. It is re-usable with just a little piece of packing tape needed. I later figured out that if the larger 2 and 3 liter soda bottles are cut just right, the tape is not needed at all. I am using the latter apparatus to try and germinate some very rare and very recalcitrant Canarium genus nut tree seeds. Please wish me luck.
Cheers!

Rob~ Thanks. The Robot win in Boston was exciting.
Guy~Good luck! Like the germinating contraption. We were soaking seeds in hydrogen peroxide the other day..
That last planting I did is coming up.
Aqua~ Thank you & everyone that helped with this. The signatures have been a huge statement.
I found out the Chicken Whisperer will be at the County Commissioner meeting..
March 20 was also my birthday. I always liked that day.
I didn't make bike week this year because I used my energy to go to a post bike week rally in the keys. I spent a week on "island time" and it takes a bit to get back to normal.
The weather was warm with a steady 20 to 25 mile per hour , what the locals call a breeze? One front came threw and flatened some tents but it was nice.
Still dry in S. Fl. Need some rain.
Peace
95P is new & we've got floaters now on the other two. All three look gamely.
Got another pic up of the planets & moon progression through the alignment.
Louis~ It's great to see ya. Had figured you were out enjoying spring.. Happy belated Birthday!!! Sounds like it was a great one, Keys & all & the weather was much better than Daytona. Need rain here too..

Potential for this system to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24-48 hours remains LOW.
Navy hasn't declared them yet but 96S is new.. off the east coast of Madagascar..
Local Chicken Business...
A while back I asked you all to sign the petition to allow us to have chickens in Brevard County. Currently if you have less then 2.5 acres & aren't zoned AU, you may have no more than 1 hen. Most of the cities have adopted the county ordinance on it & turns out most homeowners associations don't have laws against chickens. So if this passed it would affect the majority of Brevard County residents. Thank you everyone that signed. It has made a huge difference to have such an outpouring on the matter.
We've got Andy Anderson, the county Commissioner from District #5 on our side. He's sponsoring us for the up coming County Commissioner's meeting Tuesday April 3rd. Please contact your Commissioner this week! Especially if you can't make the meeting.
ALLOW BACKYARD CHICKENS: Brevard County Board of Commissioners SCHEDULED meeting for April 3rd, 2012 – General Assembly in the BOARD ROOM begins at 9:00 a.m. 2725 Judge Fran Jamison Parkway Viera, FL 32940
Looking at the schedule the chicken issue is last on the agenda, so you won't need to be there at 9am to catch it.
We are seeking to allow 4-6 hens per family on a plot as small as 0.20acres.
The Chicken Whisperer will be there! Andy Schneider, better known as the Chicken Whispererâ„¢ has become the go-to guy across the country for anything chickens. Over the years he has helped a countless number of people start their very own backyard flocks. He is not only a national radio personality, but also a contributor for Mother Earth News Magazine, Grit Magazine, and Farmers Almanac. He is the owner of Atlanta Pet Chickens, Classroom Chickens, and is the Founder/Organizer of the Atlanta Backyard Poultry Meetup Group that has quickly grown to over 1,600 local members! He has been featured on CNN, HLN, FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, as well as in The Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, The Economist, USA Today, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, New Life Journal, and countless other local and national publications & is now the national spokes person for the USDA..
So please come out & bring the kids, wear everything chicken. We need as many bodies there as possible & being midday on a Tuesday it has made this more difficult.
For more info, sign the petition & the site of the people that have really made this happen for us go to The Avid Homestead.

I got it up there..Morning Everyone!
Right now it looks really torn with the strong bow looking like it wants to pull it due west over sweet Gulf waters, where in reality it's just expanding bigger. The center is near teetering on shore's edge. That bay by Galveston should trick it to stay on land. Models keep it on land..though they don't depict it for what it is now.
This Buoy is right off Galveston & about to hit by the MCS.

I know we are not allowed to have any chickens in our yards here... don't think any type of livestock is allowed.. but we have really small yards and very close to neighbors.
once a rooster was in our neighborhood, no one really knew who had it but it went off all the time crowing and could be heard everywhere.
Did not bother me, I liked it.. but it did annoy a lot of neighbors...
that is why I need to get out of close neighborhoods and get me some land.. maybe someday.
Just wanted to pop in and see what is going on.. Enjoy your Weekend!

I am a bit late in congratulating you but you well deserve to be congratulated!
Locally it's beautiful. Hoping for rain later.
Pros~ Thanks! I get to pick up my stuff Sunday. Can't wait to get my backpack. I should post a pic. I took quilted backpacks to a ridiculous level of detail with landscape & piece quilting. It was like 10 days of free time. Had I not finished the night before I'd have been too attached to let it go.
Hades~ I saw some complaint on the main about one of those in the southern Hem not being named, seems the wind speeds just never got high enough.
Gamma~ Broward is even harsher. Atleast here county wide people are allowed one unless the HOA or city rules applies. Pembroke Park has an ordnance allowing even roosters. Hens are allowed in Atlanta, Ga even. In a chicken tractor a few hens are perfect for mowing, weeding & fertilizing a very small lot. Much less noisy, expensive & smelly then a lawn mower + eggs.
Guygee~ Thanks a bunch. After all this hard work..what are the odds..I got railroaded, including denied for caring for a kid under 5, onto the jury & will be serving our first order of business at the same time of day as that meeting which will be going on right next door..This didn't come together till last Monday, same day the Commissioner's meeting was announced. Luckily after years of fighting developers & such I've learned & had already arranged for a person of a prominent family, chicken loving & legal owning..to speak. I would have arrange to bring a crowd. I hope I still somehow manage to virtually.
So much credit should go to the family behind avidhomesteaders.com & others like Andrew at Funky Chicken Farm & the businesses like C & J Feed, Kempfer's, Cocoa Feed & Seed. I'm amazed they got The Chicken Whisper coming & how well everyone has worked together to roll the national movement through here. Hens in yards is a local business that benefits owners financially more local owned business & is good for the environment/uses less oil.
Ylee~ I'm gonna try & get that line about no mailman being mauled said at the meeting:)
Tropical Disturbance Advisory #4
TROPICAL DEPRESSION 19F
6:00 AM FST April 1 2012
======================================
At 18:00 PM UTC, Tropical Depression 19F (999 hPa) located at 15.8S 165.9E has 10 minute sustained winds of 20 knots. The depression is reported as moving east southeast at 12 knots. Position poor based on hourly GMS infrared imagery with animation and peripheral surface reports.
Organization has improved and convection remains persistent in the past 24 hours. Low level circulation center difficult to locate. Tropical depression 19 lies under an upper diffluent region in a moderate sheared environment and is moving into an area of decreasing shear. The system is steered southeastwards by northwesterly deep layer mean wind. Sea surface temperature is around 30C. Cyclonic circulation extends to 500 HPA.
Most global models agree on a southeast movement with further intensification.
Potential for this system to develop into a cyclone in the next 24-48 hours remains MODERATE TO HIGH
The next tropical disturbance advisory from Fiji Meteorological Services will be issued at around 2:30 AM UTC..
Fiji has a rule, the gale force winds has to be close to the center to be named.
It could be 35 knots away from the center and not named.
The TIA's are scary. You don't know if it will turn out to be the real thing. I guess the blood thinners are doing their job and preventing a full fledged stroke.
Have a good day.
Pros~ Happy April to you. I've got to get a new blog up!
Plap~ Glad you made it through!
