Horses that were Stranded in the Netherlands
Posted by: Skyepony, 8:48 PM GMT on February 05, 2007 +1
Back in November of 2006 I posted several articles about the 100+ horses stranded by the floods in the Netherlands. We got word they were rescued but to see it is awespiring...

Remember the horses that were trapped for 3 days on a tiny piece of land in wind
and rain in the Netherlands? It had the nation mesmerized, watching about 100 horses
huddle against the wind and watching 18 of them die. First firemen, then the
Dutch army tried to rescue them, both unsuccessfully.

Four women on horseback rode out to the rescue. Here's a video of it.....

THE SOUND BEGINS ABOUT 58 SECONDS AFTER THE START..... GOOD VOLUME .......

ENJOY......

It is about 6 1/2 minutes long.

The WFTV deal of supplying discounted radios at publix quickly sold out. Brevard didn't get any in the 1st shipment but ours are coming, as are more for other areas.. I checked this out, great radio with SAME technoligy & you can't get it any cheaper on line. Highly recommend.

ENSO took a dive

ENSO update~ It actually came out the 16th, guess they wanted their 3 day weekend.

Synopsis: Subsurface contitions & recent forecasts indicate the possible development of La Nina during the last 1/2 of the year.

The anomily for NDJ is 1.1. Nov was the peak & OND was 1.1 as well, Jan average itself is +.5 ~ it would have to dive really hard for DJF to average us to an offical neutral.

Anomilies are 0 in regions 3,4. +.4 in region 1,2 And +.6 in region 4. SST Anomilies decreased in all regions last week. +.5 & ↑ is El Nino.

The # that counts is region 3&4, that principal (now) # went from +.2 to 0 this past week. Current condition is neutral. For the Neutral to be offical it has got to come from the average of 3 months. So offically it most likely would be atleast March for it to be offical neutral ENSO conditions.

The ESPI jumped from .29 to -.07 for the last 30 days ( in the last week)...

Good morning everyone~ this Friday thing is quite exciting!!

Checking out the surface map, the low for our next chance of severe weather is down to 1002mb already & it hasn't even got cranking. Hipanola has a 1013mb Low disipating over it today. Trof over the Carolinas & The last Low to sweep the nation is in the Atlantic with hurrican force winds & 973mb...it's conected to the next big storm for the nation by a front that didn't quite droop as far as expected over FL last night so we may see temps a few degrees higher than expected in FL today. Especially the south end.

Some news from around the world..

3 People Missing in Guatemala Sinkhole
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala — A giant sinkhole swallowed several homes and at least one truck early Friday in Guatemala City, and officials said at least three people had been reported missing.

Hugo Sanchez, Guatemala's national disaster coordinator, said emergency officials couldn't attempt to rescue anyone overnight because the 330-foot-deep hole was very unstable. Loud noises and the smell of sewage rose from the hole, and the earth around it shook

Good afternoon all..

& the Sat morning littlin gif award goes to Allybama & the little mermaid.

As for our midwest storm~ Last night it was 4 lows none less then 995mb, they're combining we have 2 now the lowest at 986mb..yikes. Rightnow what's going on in Arkasas is most condusive to Tornadoes though anyone in the watch areas should be on alert. This storm formed a few yesterday & will most likely make more. It's also a hail producer as well, with some small hail being thrown down right now with a history of large hail. once it finished combining into one low I wouldn't be suprised to see it make a lot of damage. So people~ be careful & heed your local NWS. The overly colorful warning map above can be clicked on then click on your area & then county for specific warnings.

Also interesting, on the surface map is the ITCZ has reappeared around 0 north. needs to move higher to spin up storms but another sign season isn't far off.

Amazing Skye!! Thanks for posting it here. When I saw it the first time through email, brought tears to me...the same happened today. Even the weanlings made it across! Just goes to show how much of the "herd mentality they have". It only takes one! Thank God for those strong minded women!!! Going to mail saddle and Barefoot to make sure if they haven't seen this, they will soon :-)
