Wx Discussion:

As of 4:23 AM, clear skies and chilly temperatures are being felt across the Sac Area. In fact, these temps are abnormally cold for this time of the year. Today, we are expecting mostly sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures but no warmer than the low 60s. The coldest air will arrive by tonight which would mean some areas could dip below the freezing mark in the wind sheltered valleys. The National Weather Service may need to issue a Frost Advisory for those areas if more than one area will experience below freezing temperatures. By Monday, a weak ridge of high pressure will be in our area providing us warmer daytime high temperatures. Monday night, increasing clouds are anticipated all asociated with a low pressure that is expected to tap into some subtropical moisture. As a result, Tuesday night-Wed, we could see a chance of rain. Projected total rain amounts will be no more than a couple tenths of inch. Once the storm system moves through, we anticipate drier and warmer through the rest of week. Though, GFS is indicating the possibility of some spring convective showers between the end of April and first couple of days of May. Not entirely convinced since the models are just introducing this but we will continue to mointor the model consistency on this scenerio.
