Jericho Wanders Aimlessly
Hi everyone and welcome to an open blog.
Irene passed us by, but brought an evening of pretty clouds. Ss usual, the camera simply can't do justice to the colors and the depth overhead.

We were hopeful that the passing waves would bring some treasures to the coastline; maybe some bigger shells, maybe some fossils, but little was to be found. Ended up with over a hundred shark teeth though, and some small bits of colorful seaglass.

Dau went with us to the beach, and enjoyed a lazy day in the tidal pools. The tide came in quickly as it turned, and in less than twenty minutes, it was nearly up to her neck.

She also found many living starfish, and tossed them gently back into the waves.

A week or two of peaceful weather lent well to the little flora and fauna in the garden. Usually, I can't catch the butterflies on camera, but this one seemed to beg me. These are for Proserpina.

Finally, a butterfly pic that I am not embarrassed to post. Mom, for you.

With a free weekend from work, and a need to renew the garden beds. I found a place to get some Post-Equine Garden Enhancement. We brought home eighteen, fifty pound bags. That's nearly half a ton! But instead of pics of the PEGE, like last year, I decided to get pics of the equines themselves.
This is Coffee, she is 24 years old, and her owner has had her since the age of six months.

And out in the pasture, the horses were happy and curious.

Inside the barn.

After tearing up the garden and pulling dead plants and tilling in the PEGE, not much was left. But the watermelons are growing- Hey! I got nice melons! I don't even LIKE watermelons, but I'm going to try these.

And on a most recent note- last night (Friday, 9-16), we received 8.10 inches of rain in about six hours. I do believe that's a record, but not sure. Definitely a memorable record for me, as I ended up driving through it. Next morning, I checked the CoCoRahs rain gauge. They only hold eleven inches- we came real close. Anyone need a rain gauge?

I hope ya'll enjoyed the pics. Not nearly as much time to be here as I'd like, so I hope ya'll will forgive if the posts do not get answered promptly. They WILL get answered, I promise.
Enjoy yourselves.

I see you've got a lot of cheezeburger cats, so here's another one for your collection...
{{Spathy}} list looks amazing! Want to see those Violet Jasper Tomatoes. Though I think you've grown them before in the back of me mind.
After reading this--got all flustered cause I totally forgot about two beautiful eggplants which I saw out in my garden on the weekend and forgot to check! Eeeek! It's dark, so tomorrow I will see if they are 'ready' at the peak. No freeze yet, thank goodness or they'd be--well-- frozed.
I have seeds (cilantro) for you. Hugs from dah zoo.
Good morning Aqua!
Hope your weekend is better !!!
Spathy- glad you've got a separate container for the celery. The ROOTS on those things are vicious and HUGE! Also, I think kinda like potatoes, it helps if you mound up a little soil around them? Mine never got any bigger than pencils, and they were very salty to the taste.
Sounds like a good group of veggies you've got.
Wab- we never know what's gonna be at the beach. sometimes it's packed sand, sometimes, junk and seaweed. Sometimes we get lucky.
cut off low will dominate giving us overcast 65 degree days ... with a few showers mixed in too ... Actually that sounds like very nice weather. Sure can't clean the carpets when it's like that! hahaha! But 65º is about as cold as I like. After that, I die.
Gamma- look at all your loofahs! Man, I wish I had a chance to tell you, before you pulled'm down...I kept a lotta vine on mine, and braided them together, and hung'm on the fence. They dried real nice n'pretty. Maybe, you can run some fishing line with a needle, through the tops? Maybe hang'm up like that? Just keep'm dry, and you'll be shocked at how many seeds you get. They look great!
Briar- That's one of my most favorite LOLCats! Thank you! And the loofah seeds came from Skye to me, then I grew them, now Gamma is growing them from my seeds. So glad she had such great luck with them. They are fun, and unique.
Floating Hyundai- I thought they really DID float! :) yes that night was an adventure. And I'm not complaining a bit.
Jus- glad you dropped by. I got a lotta marigolds growing- what color were your flowers? I mixed many seeds together, so I am not sure what's what.
I'd love some cilantro seeds. I have Monstreaux de Viroflay spinach (google it) and I can send you some of those. all the other seeds I have, are 3rd gen, acclimated to here, so I don't know how well they'd do up there. More than willing to share anything. :)
Okay, 40 down, 24 more to go. No wait....48 down, 16 more to go. I forgot it was already Thursday. Geeesh.
Man it's so awesome to be overcast.
Spathy~ Hope you can spare a seed or three of that pumpkin..
I got the Dishrag Gourd seeds from a family friend in Mississippi. The guy is elderly, he got the strain from his grandfather passed down the family to him. His kids don't garden much. He's gathered the family seed inheritance to pass on but I think he's a little afraid the family legacy might get lost so he shared & I shared..Can't wait to tell him.
You Got a deal. I cant imagine a better thing than sharing this blend of tastes.
My first Seminole seeds were dried outside and I am not sure of a sound drying process.
My second Seminole Pumpkin was given to my lovely neighbor under one condition.
I get the seeds back.
So we will see.
This Pumpkin/Squash is such a fantastic blend of the two.
Very refreshing culinary treat.
I plan on sharing as many seeds as possible.
I plan on blending the two sets of seeds and sending them out.
Like the Loofahs, give them tremendous amounts of space.
And possibly some hand pollination if you have few bees like I do.
I was disappointed with the production for the space required, but then I started early morning hand pollination and every pollination resulted in fruit.

)
They started repaint and repair of the Matthews Bridge yesterday, supposed to take 3 years to complete.
Rain~ That's the most complete thing I've seen on Dishrags. Didn't know it was edible or medicinal.
Oh Skye, I did not know those seeds had that history!
and Rain, thanks for the link, I have read that website before it has so much great information.. I have read a lot of information on line about Loofa and their history and how to grow them and harvest them and make them into sponges or gifts or "dishrags"...
I promise I will take pictures of mine as I process them and make them into useful products.
Hi Aqua, Happy Saturday to you!
Little kids love peeling & getting the seeds out of them. I'd suggest having the grandchildren process them for you, outside.
I could see Rylee helping me peel them .
Cole (8 yrs old) peeled one of the small ones last time he was over, he peeled it shook out the seeds and took the sponge home with him. He thought it was cool.
Skye- thanks for the story about the loofah seeds. Wow, what a long family vine we've created! Look sli ke we've got a lotta seed passing going on.
There's a few seed-sharing sites online, but geez I can't guarantee the germination of my seeds. I can't guarantee anybody anything. I'd rather share, cost-free, let whatever happens, happen.
Jus- not that nay germinated- even tho I planted all of what you sent- BUT there is one on the end with flowerbuds as big as walnuts. They must be yours. Looks like it's gonna be bright orange, I am real happy.
Spathy- I found the zinnias and the wisteria attract bees and butterflies. But I did hand germination too with the cantalopes- every flower was loved with my pinky finger, hahaha
(listening to my Limp Biskit, forgot how much I loved that life, wanna scream and run, but I am old)
Passed by the Matthews Bridge today- yes they are working on it. Spray hard and repaint- make it all new, scream for my river, my Jacksonville, and "my generation"
Gamma- glad to be ome help, that is a very good site Rainman posted. My vine this year was cantalopes. Maybe I'll do the loofahs next year.
Wab- I sure hope I have time to do a new blog this weekend.
love to my posters
This one was from Deluna Fest in Pensacola Beach last Oct. 7 bands in 10 hours (Neon Trees, Rebelution, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Michael Franti and Spearhead, 30 Seconds to Mars, 311, and STP)

stAug ampitheatre is COOL!
(Rain is asking, "why so angry? can't you listen to some TelleTubbies or something?")
I can share a more mellow clip (that I'm pictured in) if you'd like. If I'm gonna be out I need something to keep me awake. While at home I have a much more holistic listening approach.
Great pics!!! And looks like your melons are perfct! :)
Deluna Festival -- would have loved to see Franti…
*sigh*. Just busy & not enough time to blog…
In fact, hubby just asked if I was ready to go
I'm beginning to feel like a Willie Nelson song only it's called "On The Go Again".
LOL
But sometimes the hard stuff just feels right.
Yeah...I wanna see you in a video. As long as it's not TelleTubbies. They sick Pups, true Dat. :)
Hope to get a new blog up sometime this weekend. This one's got some rough edges, like a bad fingernail.

StAug is DAH PLAYAH!!! Dude!!
Great video, good sound. Where was that at?
heh heh heh so THAT'S what they're called these days?
looks like a gorgeous day, man. what fun.
Yes, was a beautiful day. Sunny, 83 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky. Water was nice too (and not many tar balls after the oil spill)
Best concert I've attended. Crowd was a little lame but everyone behaved and enjoyed themselves. 22K in attendance that day.
GREAT blog BTW. Cat's are doing a number on my potted lemon tree but I've left them alone
