Watching TD18 with some concerns for the Northeast. Several models, including GFS AND Euro, bring this storm up the Eastern Seaboard. How strong and what type of storm remains to be seen. Several scenerios are possible. With a negative tilt to the jet expected to be in place, it is quite possible that the storm could ride the jet and make landfall in Southern New England.
Another possibility would be for the TD to be nudged out to sea with a secondary storm forming along the East coast.
I cant post no model info due to problems with my pc but I will try and resolve this issue.

On that day, we were under a severe thunderstorm watch. I was swimming in my girlfriends pool around 4:00PM and noticed off to the north and west very ominous clouds beginning to move towards me in Milford CT. about 5 miles from Hamden. I got out of the pool and asked my girlfriend if she had a camera and she didn't. It was before the days when i used computers and cell phones to get weather info. I went inside and quickly turned on the TV to find out anything, because I just knew it was going to be more than just a strong storm. Tornado warnings were already posted in the entire area of Southern New Haven County. I remember the olive-green sky and the branches on the trees getting sucked upwards. Than branches started breaking off followed by the power going off. I watched the storm passing to my north and east from underneath my girls patio.
When the power came back on, a half hour later, I was stunned to see an F4 tornado had cut a path through Hamden, and although weakening moved just east of New Haven and Out to the Sound.
It was very close to where my sister lived at the time, about a mile or so. We got in the car and tried to get into Hamden with no luck. They had shut off the entire area. I heard from my sister the next day and although she had no power she was able to go to a friends house about a mile away and call my mom and dad.
To this day I have never seen a sky that looked like that. And living in Florida for many years, and the midwest for a year thats saying a lot

Hi Art! How are you??? Sorry I haven't called. I really haven't hardly had time to even call my parents. They're feeling very abandoned, but I am so busy I can't keep my head above water sometimes.

Take care!

Hi to all...What a beautiful day it is today. After a night of showers and T-Storms the humidity has dropped, sunny skies and a gentile breeze.
Miss everyone around here, everybody must have a life....LOL
How about Mark Martin!!! Another great race yesterday.

Hey, BigT!

I'll be that was a scary storm. I've never seen a tornado or been in or near a storm that spawned one like that. Hope I never am, to tell the truth! I'll do my tornado watching on those chase shows on TV.

Hey Art! How's it going! How's the weather in New England?

Yeah, it does seem like everyone has been blogging less here lately, myself included, hmm... must be the lack of exciting weather! LOL

I'll probably start blogging more when cane season is supposed to crank up next month :) I'm wondering though if this year will be a dud for the East Coast? I have a feeling that this year will be more of a Gulf Coast year instead, but of course I could be wrong, only time will tell...

Hi Art! How are you???? I've been busier than a bee, but hopefully soon, with break, I'll be able to slow down and actually think for a while. I have my finals next week for the Summer Term and but I have to have two book reports done by Friday. One is done and the other is going to be ready hopefully on Wednesday or so.

Anyways, then we have a three week break, but I'll only get 2 off as I am going to be an RA for the dorm complex and I have to be here to greet the girls and help the guys get all moved out. It's going to be quite the week. And I have to get myself moved into an RA room. LOL...

Hope you're doing good. Take care!

Hi, BT,

I always have to stop by these northern blogs to see what might be heading our way. I can't believe how cold it was - record setting? 58? Good gosh. It was in the upper 90s today and we felt like we'd really caught a break-guess we had.

Hope all is going well, despite your cool weather. Interesting that you commented about slower blog traffic - I've seen that over at wordpress, too. I think it's just a time of year when people get caught up in traveling, home projects, or just flat summer laziness!
Down here we don't mind being in the AC at a computer, but I'll bet if I lived up north I'd be ready to get out of the house and enjoy what summer still has to offer.

Hope all's going well - have a good Friday!

Blu, After reading your post i need a nap...LOL Make sure you take care of yourself. Something I need to put more effort into. Congrats to your daughter, you have to be proud.!!! Im here, so call when you can!!

Shore Yes, it's been a strange summer thusfar. We only hit 90 once, the rest of the time it was in the upper 70's. Some big storms last night, more on the way tonight.

Brooke, yours and Matts posts took two days to post. (Weird) Good luck on your book reports and enjoy your time off. Im doing ok thanks for asking!!

Matt I dont know what happened but it took two days for your post to show up. Yeah, this is usually WU's slow period, than it heats up as we enter the season. We had some strong storms last night, expecting more tonight. A few of them dumped 6 inches of rain at once!!!!!
To all, Have a great weekend, have fun and stay safe (if possible)

Hey Art! (hope this don't take days to show up LOL)

I see more storms are in your area in northern NJ, man the Northeast has been stormy here lately!

We could be seeing temps dropping into the upper 50Fs tomorrow night! Brrrr!!!! Time to get the coats out LOL! So far this month it's been a little on the cool side, only 80Fs and low 90Fs for highs. I'm not complaining though, this slightly cooler weather is nice! :)

Storms have popped up here too this evening, just some heavy rain showers with a few flashes of lightning. We just got the edge of one, I was outside in it :) The rain drops were cold too, it's usually warm rain this time of year, even at night the rain is usually fairly warm.

Hope you get a nice balance of "saving on the power bill" and "doing AC work"! That must be a tricky situation.

Hey Chuck and SSI!

Hey, BigT...

I was truly saddened to hear the news last night about Uncle Walter. I wasn't too surprised, though, as there had been a few things floating around a couple of weeks or so ago, saying that he was in bad shape. There were denials, of course, but....

With his passing, it's the end of an era, IMHO. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. Everyone trusted Walter Cronkite. The anchors and reporters now? There's very few that even approach his caliber.

Hi Art! Been a while since I have stopped in. I am not on WUground that much these days...been too busy. It's normally late at night that I am on (ask Chuck- LOL) and then I am going, going, going during the day. We're on break right now. Just finished the required summer term...now I am looking forward to the "real thing"- the fall term. Did ok, on my finals...got an A for one test and a B for another...am waiting on the grades for the last test.

Anyways, how are you? I hope things are going well. Take care!!! =)

...UNUSUALLY COOL JULY AND FIRST TWO MONTHS OF SUMMER FOR CENTRAL
PARK...
...JUNE AND JULY 2009 ARE THE SECOND WETTEST JUNE AND JULY PERIOD ON
RECORD AT CENTRAL PARK...

FOR SOME PERSPECTIVE...HERE ARE THE TOP TEN COOLEST JULYS AND FIRST
TWO MONTHS OF SUMMER (JUNE/JULY) ON RECORD SINCE 1869 FOR CENTRAL
PARK IN NEW YORK CITY:

COOLEST JULY COOLEST JUNE/JULY
AVG. TEMP. YEAR AVG. TEMP. YEAR
70.7 1888 69.4 1881
71.9 1884 69.8 1903
72.1 1914 69.9 2009*
72.3 2009*/2000/1871 70.3 1902
72.4 1891 70.6 1916
72.6 1895 70.7 1927
72.8 1902/1869 71.0 1915/1924/1926
72.9 1956 71.2 1888/1918
73.1 1890 71.5 1893/1920
73.2 2001 71.7 1928/1958
73.4 1996 71.8 2000

*THROUGH JULY 29TH

DUE TO THE UNUSUALLY COOL CONDITIONS THUS FAR IN JULY...HERE ARE
SOME INTERESTING FACTS TO NOTE...

WITH AN AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURE OF 72.3...CURRENTLY RUNNING 4.1
DEGREES BELOW NORMAL...SO FAR THIS IS THE FOURTH COOLEST JULY ON
RECORD AT CENTRAL PARK. THIS VALUE IS EXPECTED TO RISE AS
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO AVERAGE NEAR TO SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL
THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH.

DAILY AVERAGE TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN AT OR BELOW NORMAL EVERY DAY
BUT ONE THIS MONTH (THE 28TH)...FOR 46 OF 47 DAYS DATING BACK TO
JUNE 13TH...AND FOR 54 OF THE 59 DAYS SINCE JUNE 1ST.

CENTRAL PARK HAS ONLY REACHED ABOVE 85 DEGREES ONCE THIS SUMMER...ON
THE 17TH OF JULY...AND HAS NOT YET REACHED 90 DEGREES THIS SUMMER.
IF THIS CONTINUES THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH...IT WILL ONLY BE THE
SECOND TIME SINCE 1869 THAT 90 DEGREES WAS NOT REACHED IN JUNE OR
JULY. THE ONLY OTHER TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS 1996.

FOR THE MONTHS OF JUNE AND JULY...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE SO FAR IN
2009 IS 69.9 DEGREES...MAKING THIS THE THIRD COOLEST JUNE AND JULY
ON RECORD AT CENTRAL PARK. WHILE THIS VALUE WILL INCREASE A LITTLE
BIT...IT VERY LIKELY WILL END UP IN THE TOP TEN. OF NOTE IS THAT 7
OF THE 10 COOLEST JUNE AND JULY/S ON RECORD AT CENTRAL PARK WENT ON
TO BEING ONE OF THE 10 COOLEST SUMMERS ON RECORD.

AS FAR AS RAINFALL...HERE ARE THE TEN WETTEST JUNE/JULYS ON RECORD
SINCE 1869 AT CENTRAL PARK:

WETTEST JULY
AMOUNT YEAR
19.35 1975
16.46 2009* 15.93 1928
14.71 2006
14.37 1922
14.28 1889
14.02 2003
13.92 1989
13.84 1972
13.70 1903

* THROUGH JULY 29

WITH 16.46 INCHES OF RAIN SINCE JUNE 1ST...THE JUNE/JULY OF 2009 IS
ALREADY THE SECOND WETTEST ON RECORD INCLUDING THE SECOND WETTEST
JUNE ON RECORD (10.06 INCHES - WETTEST WAS 2003 - 10.27 INCHES) AND
6.40 INCHES SO FAR THIS MONTH. WHILE THE RAINFALL THIS MONTH IS
ABOVE NORMAL BY 2.08 INCHES SO FAR...IT IS NOT IN THE TOP TEN. 1.43
INCHES OF RAIN ARE NEEDED TO TIE JULY 1872 AS THE TENTH WETTEST JULY
ON RECORD (WETTEST JULY - 11.89 INCHES IN 1889). ALSO OF NOTE...IS
THAT ONLY 5.97 INCHES OF RAIN IS NEEDED BETWEEN NOW AND AUGUST 31ST
TO MAKE THIS THE WETTEST SUMMER ON RECORD (WETTEST 1975 - 22.40
INCHES).

Yes it passed and the warning had cancelled. The cell weakened, but what a storm it was.
More action off to the west heading in our direction. But the last storm stablized the air somewhat so they shouldnt be as strong
