Hi surfmom! Yes, they are a joyful sight! LOL We love watching them. There are a bunch of them now off the coast. Fun to watch them!!!

I love the dolphins too. We see the spinner dolphins occasionally here as well. Marvelous creatures!

Morning from a chilly, but not so chilly, UK!

Chris managed to get through the snow to Brussels, and is back in a new flat, with all mod cons! This one even has a halogen hob, so he can cook his meals instead of microwave everything! After living on take outs and micro meals all last year, he is ecstatic to be able to "fry an egg"!! LOL

Hi surfmom and Sandi! Glad to hear it is not quite as chilly in the UK and hopefully warming up in the Gomex too, surfmom ;) That wet suit looks familiar from my days out in the cold waters of Northern California many, many years ago! LOL Those wet suit caps keep the "ice headaches" from being so intense when diving through the waves. No need for them here, water temp is a comfortable 79!

Glad to hear Chris has more home like conditions and can now fry an egg, Sandi, LOL Yes, micro and take out gets "old" after awhile! I don't mind the take out so much if it is really good, but micro gets boring.

ALOHA!!!! 79 DEGREES - YOU LUCKY DOG : )
thrilled to get in the ocean yesterday - Fashion Statement was far from comfortable and the darn new suit leaked - but it did keep me warm - I was so layered underneath I waddled to the beach..... well worth the exhilaration - nothing like a few good wipe outs, a slight pounding and a few excellent rides to disperse the grumble bunnies that were multiplying in my "Being". I am refreshed and solar charged.

Aloha Ahiahi, surfmom! LOL, yes, that first rush of cold water through the back zipper is a rush! (I would probably have a heart attack now :p) And it used to be a work out just putting the 5ml suit on...but it does keep you warm. I used to be out in mine for hours sometimes. The beach and surf does look refreshing there! Glad to hear you got out!!

I bet you are glad you are not in California now.

Karen (in Seal Beach) had a tornado yesterday, and the town is flooded. With still the worse storm to arrive overnight, they are not looking forward to it!!

Hope you both are well and enjoying life in Paradise.

Chris's contract does finish at the end of January.... I wonder where he is going next!!! LOL

Hi Sandi, yes, I saw some of that California weather news...they are really getting slammed. It reminds me of the winter of '97-98 when the last big El Nino brought so much weather woes to California. Guy and I were fortunate enough to be able to escape it for a bit back then and fly to Sydney where it was Summer!

Thank you, yes, it is a weather paradise here! Endless summer.

Where in the World is Chris??? LOL Guy may have to work a bit in New York this year (but not for a long time like Chris' stint in Brussels.) I am sure you miss Chris when he is away...(or maybe not? LOL)

Yes, that was a nice place! I was kind of sad when my parents moved inland to Mount Dora (mother likes the "old Florida-ness" of Mt. Dora, and it is a nice place there too.) I took that windsurfing lesson back in the late 1980's! I remember it was a guy that gave me the lesson...I floated out on my own way out into the bay the second time I tried it there, lol. My Dad wasn't sure I was going to come back! Later took more lessons on Maui and then did a lot of windsurfing on San Francisco Bay. Fun times...

Mike; I'm glad to hear that things are going well, Sweetie. I have a hard time staying in the loop, too- so busy most days! I imagine that Hawaii's beauty must keep you outdoors enjoying the good life in the tropics instead of spending your few spare minutes blogging on the computer!

:-)

Hello Mike,

Good to see you again.

Mt Dora, I've seen that little town and it is beautiful; looks like something out of an old movie. I love the way they have kept it all so "old Florida" looking.

I did some wind surfing in St Croix back in 1982 (or was it 83?)I took the 30 mins of lessons and had in instructor with me.. it was great. Never got a chance to do it again.. :o(

maybe someday; but doubt I have the arm strength to do it anymore. I water skied last summer and it about pulled my arms out of my shoulder sockets! LOL

anyway, saw your blog and wanted to pop in and say HELLO!

Hi Gamma!

Thank you. Yes, Mt. Dora is nice...my mother has enjoyed living there. Yes, it is great how they preserved the old architecture and 1920's old Florida ambiance.

Yes, windsurfing and water skiing takes a lot of arm (and leg strength!) I haven't been water skiing in a long time. We used to do a lot of it when we were younger. I would probably feel like my arms were being pulled out of my sockets too if I tried it now! LOL

Now I am trying to get exercise from swimming and an occasional body surf.

Thanks for stopping by and hello back to you! And a Happy Aloha Friday to you too!!! :-)

Check out this old Florida Tourism commercial! LOL http://www.flickr.com/photos/floridamemory/4193497900/

Many warm wishes for you and yours this Christmas Day.

"We hear the beating of wings over Bethlehem and a light that is not of the sun or of the stars shines in the midnight sky. Let the beauty of the story take away all narrowness, all thought of formal creeds. Let it be remembered as a story that has happened again and again, to men of many different races, that has been expressed through many religions, that has been called by many different names. Time and space and language lay no limitations upon human brotherhood."

~New York Times, 25 December 1937, quoted in Quotations for Special Occasions by Maud van Buren, 1938, published by The H.W. Wilson Company, New York

Hi Bug and Sandi!! Yes, the Bug dug me up out of the sand, LOL. Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas) and Happy St. Stephen's aka Boxing Day! (We used to open presents with my Irish grandfather on Boxing Day when we were kids :)
Thank you both, we had a wonderful bright, sunny and warm Christmas Day here in Hawaii. Hope you thawed out there Sandi (and you too, Bug, I see that you got some cold wintry stuff too all the way down South as well.) I am sure that you had a bright and warm day in your hearts and minds :)

Going to the beach today to enjoy another day in Paradise!

A Hogmanay Blessing for You:

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine upon your window pane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near to you and
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Happy New Year 2011, Mike!

Happy New Year Sandi, Bug and Karen!!! (Hi Karen!...enjoy California for me! I got back to SF (mostly to work) last Spring and enjoyed being back there, albeit too briefly. Maybe in my old age I will get to enjoy living in Palm Springs again, lol.)

Thanks for the greetings and website address and interesting link. India was a trip of a lifetime! Hopefully, I will "reincarnate" and get to go there again :) Scotland was nice too, Bug!

Hi Mike, I think for us a trip to San Fran is in the near future.

This summer we flew from Homer, Alaska to the Swikshak River, Katmai Penn to view the big brown bears eating the early sedges. Wow, what a trip. We flew with a young Hollywood producer and his brother. They were great guys and so much fun. The bears went about their business and paid no attention to us. Such a great trip.

Hope you have had a great year and that 2011 is very good to you both. For me this is the year of the IPad, IPhone and the passport :)

Hi, Mike!

We didn't get much snow here in Charleston after Christmas. Just ice. I was on the road that day and did run into a good bit of snow on the trip up to Dad's. It was mostly inland.

They'll get some more tomorrow. Whether we get any here or not is a 'wait and see' thing. I expect icy roads for the Monday morning commute.

I'll be thinking of you out there in Paradise!

I guess I have a blog poltergeist, Sandi :) Glad you got my email!

Lucky you, OGal! Sounds very fun. Guy has an iPhone and is very addicted to it...it is an amazing device...our passports just collecting dust these days :(

Glad you made it to your Dad's Bug and got home safely...I saw on the weather news that more snow and ice is headed for the South tomorrow. Drive safely...I guess you are not accustomed to all this wintry driving? Sounds like you are doing ok despite it! I like being able to drive up and look at the snow and then return to warmth :)
