Yeah, that is COLD. This is the weather I wish I had wood heat, nice, real hot, put another log on the fire heat. Coming home to a warm, cozy home, after working outside all day, feels very blessed. I wish I had a woodstove, but I do have heat. And today, my job just happens to be inside - that IS fortunate. The chicken coop is actually staying above freezing, I have 3 heat lamps in there, but the girls are getting cabin fever, lots of missing tail feathers, they are picking on each other, like old biddys cooped up. Looks like it quit snowing, and the moon is shining brightly. Lets go begin the day.

Its cold again, but I am enjoying these peeks into spring. There are warm days sprinkled in betweeen the cold - that means I can turn the heat down, don't have to put on the heat lamps in the chicken coop, and do a little yard clean up. Having a dog makes for a LOT of clean up, when the snow melts and you get a good view. OH MY, I said the other day,as I got out the shovel, and was saved from my duties by a 10 minute pellet storm. Thats winter!

This is it, the day I wait all winter for. I will head into the garage and find the clothesline and pole. I'll rifle through the piled up accumulation of winter, and dig up the clothespins. There is a 15 mph wind forecasted, on a 40+ degree day. That'a a winning recipe for sheet heaven. Through the years I have used my clothesline more, and the dryer rarely. Even in the winter months, I have 2 racks I dry my clothes on in the house. Frugal, I know, but it has...

It is 12 below right now. We got about 6 inches of snow yesterday, blowing around badly in the morning, creating drifts and low visibilty. But by 3 pm, it was sunny, covered with fluffy snow, and COLD. Even so, I know the seeds are starting to sprout in the earth. I know that this snow is going to melt and become moisture to nourish those seeds. And I hope this cold helps kill off the pine beetles we have had devastating losses from. The days are getting longer,...

And started to snow. Now it feels like winter! It was so warm and melting yesterday, I was compelled to get out and clean up the yard, though it was slick and icy. Melting and freezing daily creates slippery spots. Today I am absolved from outdoor duties. My long weekend can be finished up with my favorite indoor tasks. Mother Nature always wins.
