Tropical Storm Dolly Forms in the Gulf of Mexico

Dr. Jeff Masters, September 2, 2014

Director of Meteorology, Weather Underground

Say hello to the Atlantic's fourth named storm of 2014--Tropical Storm Dolly, which formed Tuesday morning in the Gulf of Mexico's Bay of Campeche. How's the weather in your livewell?

Jim Root, September 2, 2014

Professional Bass Angler

I just got back from a tournament at Oneida Lake, my first after having installed my new V-T2 Livewell system from New Pro Products. This unique system is designed to improve the overall quality of your livewell both when it's holding fish and when it is not. If you're like me, you probably had no idea what was happening in there. You add water, recirculate it from time to time, make sure the aerator is working, keep a bottle of Rejuvenate on hand, and have been told to keep ice on your fish when it is really hot. Stop right there, and listen to what I'm going to tell you because that kind of behavior is actually harming your fish.

Climate Case Study: California Drought (2)

Dr. Ricky Rood, September 2, 2014

Professor, University of Michigan

One of the problems I have with the press coverage is that this 63 trillion gallons and the change in the Earth’s crust is out of context of any other numbers. It is the first time the measurement has been made, not the first time there has been the change in the water sufficient enough to change the Earth’s elevation. There are also many pictures showing depleted reservoirs, again out of context. If one were so inclined, then one could find many inconsistencies and allusions, which would be open, potentially, to criticism of exaggeration. All of this is generated by the reportage on the paper on points that, to the best of my reading, were not made in the paper.
