New Blog--New Month--New List!
MAKE A LIST!
I got such a kick out of this, I decided to make it my new post. Maybe I have a theme going on here now--the MAKE A LIST BLOG! My first, blog "What I've Learned from WU Main" was a list, and now "Random Thoughts" is a new list...(alright don't all clap at once..*bow, curtsie, ty ty*)
Enjoy and refer to often! (I'm still working on the darn Chicago weather graphics...soon I will have some...soon)
Random Thoughts for the Day:
1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
2. Nothing stinks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.
5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
6. Was learning cursive really necessary?
7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
10. Bad decisions make good stories.
11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this -- ever.
15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Darn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
18. A 4-year old asked me in the car the other day "what
would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the heck do I respond to that?
19. I think the freezer deserves a light as well..
20. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Bud Light than Kay.

I'm enjoying a bit of quiet with mine getting into their 20's and my hubby and I have a bit more freedom. We only got married a little over a year ago and I 'waited' 11 years before taking the dive again! So, our crew is giving us time to be newlyweds and no grandbaby's yet...no complaints! Looking forward to the day...and living vicariously through all your great pics and stories.
Hope you have a great weekend, too!
Semper Ubi, sub ubi
lol :) My cousin posted this on FB. Cracks me up.
"Sieze the day, trust no tomorrows", and "Always wear underwear" Sounds so much better in latin!
Incredible weather again in Chicago. I think we are making up for October rain. It's like someone turned a faucet off and un-capped the sun in Nov. Off to the yard work...:) Have a great day!

Yes..and I will be a pleasant observer this year! I don't have to cook...Hope I can fit back into the car without too much trouble! I'll post our lame 'Turkey' project banner later. Pretty funny!
(Continuation of earlier posts, scroll down): We didn't have a picture to go by...ah ha haha...just a bunch of pieces to iron on a blank turkey. I was going to put it up the way it was--blank...but shannon said wait, isn't it missing a few things??? I'm tellin ya...true story! I was like...what the heck is in this other bag, giblets?
Yeah...sort of a 'Turkey' our little Thanksgiving Flag ;)
Cold, yucky. Got a 'wind chill' alert??? What? 30? Winds are strong and it feeeels like snow??? Work was busy so haven't checked the maps. Oh heck I'll just look at Michigan and Charles update...usually pretty well tells the story lol.
Me: Oh
Joey: What do you mean? Isn't there that Amarillo coming?
Shannon: (looks at me, I look at her, huh?)
Joey: Yeah, that Amarillo...that warm thing...
Shannon: You mean El Nino?????
Joey: yeah that thing.
Shannon: Good point.
I choked on my sandwich...Nuff said. Shannon and I were crying laughing so hard, I had to go out in the hall and come back into the kitchen with a straight face. Forever an Amarillo year.

But, anyway, if someone else wants to join us for the Honor Walk here in Chicago on the 5th of Dec. this will be fun! Coming up soooo soon! We intend to have a great time (naturally!) The more the merry!
It appears it will still be in the forest preserve in Lake County. Any walkers within 100 miles? There's no excuses I can see on the cmc, not that it is reliable... (oooh that may get a few thinking or responding) No doubt we'll have a good time for a good cause! Rum??? Does that work? j/k. Give to Portlight and be with us in spirit if you can't make the Midwest/Chicago walk. But, we'll be here! WU-mail me for details. C'mon pirates of the mid-west!
Directions: Route 176 and Fairfield Rd. South on Fairfield to Winter Sports area on the East side of Fairfield. Signs are well posted(Winter Sports Area, Sled Hill and Skating Pond) Please meet at the first parking spaces to the right. There are no parking or entrance fees to this preserve area.
The winter sports area offers groomed trails (if there is snow)for cross country skiing, a sled hill if anyone would like to partake with children after the walk, and a skating pond. I really do not believe it will be frozen or snowy, but just in case, these activities are available. Depending on weather, we will walk (or bring your skis) a trail that is approx. 2 miles without major hills or difficult terrain. (Subject to group agreement ;) The event should last approx. 1 hour or so. Should you wish to have lunch, there are no concessions available, please bring what you wish, or there are many locations in Wauconda to go to lunch afterward.
Please, do consider joining us for a pleasant walk, and if you have not signed up, try to do so and get your sponsor sheet at Portlight.org. If you just would like to join us without formality, come on up or down! Bring any donation you may wish to offer.
Wundermail me anytime with questions.
Looking forward to this event and Have a Very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving Everyone! -Lydine-

The Paradoxical Commandments (Mother Theresa)
by Dr. Kent M. Keith
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

I did not see black bears in Blairstown, NJ hills...but I heard them, and my mother-in-law saw one! They were there all around me. My sister and brother in-laws went and cut their tree. And, between all of my husband's and my travels to see other family...she decorated. We came back each night to a classic Pocconos home with ivy and lights on the porch. It was an amazing stay.
Just wonderful! Wonderful! Gorgeous weather. 62 degrees, Sunday in Milford, Pa. touring with an aunt I do not get to see. Great weather to get to my uncle in Bethlehem (took the back roads --and anyone who knows the area knows these are the back roads...everywhere-- He let me go, my hubby!) Just beautiful stops at Inns and taverns along the beaten trails...and family destinations, East...We did not make it to NYC. We were just so happy in those mountains, and got to see everyone we could.
Some wind kicked up at nights, and I could hear it coming over the Kittatinny Mountain Range with plenty of notice...Wow...from far away--with notice! (All I could think of was: "The wind in the wires made a tattle tale sound" It was as if I were on Michigan...Whoosh-- and gusts of 70 maybe?) Through a tattle tale PA old house window trying to sleep...
And a bit of rain driving. But, our destinations were just absolutely beautifully filled with family and scenes. The good type.
We had such a nice time. There are pics on my wunderphotos. Happy to be home safe. Only one incident which could have been a lot worse...(we almost hit a deer on the PA 80 Turnpike this morning, coming home, on the way back, in the rain??? Wouldn't have thought they were moving, but it was PA and hunters may have moved them...and they are in rutt. And, I know this. And, I was driving. (Just insert Tom Petty here)...I think the kids in PA had a day off today for opening day of hunting season there! But anyway, just by grace of God we didn't hit it when it came out over the embankment. The car next to me got totalled. I'm worried about this...don't think I'm not!
It was definately extremely close to disaster for us. But no one hurt in the other car or my car... whew) I am having flyin deer flashbacks, let me tell ya, and obviously still shaken. Glad pekingnese have flat noses, cause when I locked up the brakes...they were literally under the seat and may have hit their little noses. But, my in-laws DID have seat belts on their leashes, too! Yeah, THAT was a story every stop...15 minutes to get the Pekes strapped...Just shoot me! But...God love em...they were fine. We were all fine and we did not hit it. Whew! Big, big, big frekin doe! I'm sorry for all deer lovers, but at 65 mph, it's me or the deer...and Michigan driving (Charles knows)...taught me a lot.
I'm slap happy after 14 hours driving (on and off) and rambling. I'll post more tomorrow. What a great trip, all in all though. Just can't say enough how nice it was to see our relatives we do not get a chance to see but every 5 years!
Hope everyone's was just as lovely! My gang o'kids did fine back here, too. No party evidence. The house is intact, they went to their respective other's for Thankgiving and seem ok??? Tug Tug. Meatloaf, the lab, looks to be well fed and happy. Kitty is hanging on me like 'how dare you leave for days!' but no worse for wear. She had backup.
And a good time was had by all! I love my hubby and his P's and Pampered Pekingnese...:) ok go to bed now Lydine, Skyway was a bitch at 5:45!!! in Chi...but I'm on a highway high, and loved to see my City lights, too, on the way home to our little borough, Johnsburg, IL...Ahh..Home!
I'm gonna post, but please bear with me I'm tired and just unraveling after the trip...Poetic justice...please.
Okay you're worried about hitting a deer
and its deer huntin season - got to be
irony there somewhere
Glad you are home SAFE with wonderful
memories of them PA hills -
My Mother was raised up in West Virgina
Those hills are beautiful...
Gonna get cold here for us at least
the high Friday morning - 36 degrees
man we went from Hell this Summer
to Freezing this winter
Gotta love El Nino.....
Sleep well!
PS LOVE YOUR PIX!
Ah ha ha ha...upside down pekes! They were fine...me??? I was a wreck. We missed that deer by inches!
Miss is as good as a mile - Looks like your Angel did her job : ) Love the squirrel pic!
