Good Morning Everyone and ....

It appears that this special additional day to our calendar year will finally be bringing some of us in the Northeast a taste of winter's wrath in the form of possibly 4 - 6 inches of snow beginning later this afternoon. Thus far, local meteorologists have had difficulty in determining the track and amounts of the snow associated with this storm, as it will be arriving in three parts and last till Thursday. Thankfully, this am's regional map shows only rainfall swiping parts of our state. Nevertheless, the colder temps arriving later today or overnight, could easily change it to more challenging weather.

If this is the only serious snowfall we receive out of this entire snowless winter, it shouldn't be too difficult to handle. Come Saturday, we're supposedly back to much milder weather again, approximately 50 (plus)degrees, which would easily melt the remaining snow on the ground. Glad to see the lamb part of March is up for an earlier battle with the lion!

For any of you who happen to have been born on a Leap Year day years ago, Happy Birthday and how lucky to have your years on earth belie your actual birthdate! LOL!

Good Afternoon All ~

Breezin' on by during another short-lived break in what has been an extremely hectic schedule of late. So nice to hear from Ally and Bogon again and thanks for your thoughtful posts!

We were quite lucky over the weekend to escape from any power outages or felled trees from that windstorm that blew through. WHEW! I guess some of the wind gusts in parts of Boston reached near 60 mph. A New Hampshire town, not too far from where I live in Mass., experienced power outages and felled trees. Thankfully, as I said, ours stayed on and only a few branches fell in the yard.

Looks like we might experience a slight snowstorm Weds. into Thursday of this week, although I don't think there'll be much accumulation with rainfall also expected to be mixed in. I guess winter wanted to give, hopefully, just one last hurrah before March rolls in with daylight savings in two weeks and spring's official arrival in three. Can't wait for longer days and warmer temps to remain a more permanent fixture.

Thought I'd post and link up to Suzi46's wonderful picture of these comically looking sheep taken over a year ago in January. They definitely capture the mood of waiting on spring to arrive. LOL! Just click the picture below for the direct link to her WU site if you're interested.

Happy Saturday Mass! I see your countdown clock until Daylight Savings Time arrives - WOOHOO!
OF course, that means that it will be dark when I get up (will have to retrain my mind and body for this bi-annual trip) but at least it will be light when I get off work!
Our winter has been very mild - except it is cool here today. With overcast skies, temps in the upper fifties and northerly winds - it makes it really cold in this area of the country. My thin skin would not survive a winter in the north - that is for sure!..lol
I hope all is well with you these days. Take care.

Judging by the isobars on today's weather map it must be a might windy up your way. Hope you have everything nailed down for the duration.

Good Late Morning to All Who Lurk or Post!

Stopping by briefly to announce that for the next couple of days or so, our daytime highs could reach near the mid-fifties! What a blessing this milder winter has been! Naturally, I'm still looking forward to when we finally reach and maintain temps somewhere in the upper sixties or seventies. It will be wonderful when things warm up to where we can finally open up all our windows and allow fresh air to replace several months of pent up staleness.

Hope everyone had a decent Presidents Day Holiday and Weekend and remain safe from any nasty weather in your vacinity. I need to catch up on some much needed rest, as I've been on a ragged pace for the past month or so. Sorry for my absence on the blogs, but it can't be helped. I think by the beginning of March many issues will be straightened out, so I can devote more time to my WU friends, etc. In the meantime, know that I'm still thinking about you and hope you are well.

Good Morning and Happy Presidents Day to Everyone!

Hope all is well with each of you and that your holiday weekend has been, at least, sunny and bright!
We might actually see our temps reach to the upper fifties towards the end of the week! HOOOO-RAAAY! Love the fact that the past few days have been sunny and bright and allowed warmer temps to filter through our windows to help heat up our home's interior. Can't wait till it's warm enough to open them all up for some accompanying fresh air!! Shouldn't be too much longer now!

Thanks again for your thoughts and posts below. Currently, I'm having serious issues with my computer, especially, Windows Internet Explorer. It keeps shutting down on me. Hopefully, I can get this and other situations fixed in the coming weeks. In the meantime, hope you'll bear with me while I'm unable to post on individual sites other than here. So frustrating!

Stay healthy and safe until the next time I can successfully post. Big hugs!

Good Morning All!

Sorry that I've been MIA the past week or so, but I've had a lot on my plate lately. Hopefully, I'll see the light at the end of the tunnel by the end of February or so.

In the meantime, I want to thank all of you who've posted or emailed me with your recent holiday greetings and well wishes. I hope you all had a most pleasant Valentines Day and that our weather will hold up well enough to enjoy, at least part of, the upcoming 3-Day Presidents Day Weekend.

Looks like parts of northeastern Mass. will see some rain mixed with snow for the next couple of overnights. Thankfully, our upcoming daytime temps look to remain above to well above average. This should help in quickly melting any residual snow that's left over by am. Hard to believe that February is already half over with daylight savings just a few weeks away!! I'm so grateful that we've continued to have a much milder winter, with no signs of any serious snowstorms ahead. How I dread having to drive or slog around in the snow any more.

May you all remain well, safe and happy until the next time I'm able to post. Big hugs to you all!

Hey there MASS, hope you are feeling better yourself and that you are getting enough rest at night too. A bit cooler today with temps in the mid 30s but still above the freezing mark. No snow...like you I dread spring cleaning outside. So much to do that was neglected last fall...Bah Humbug...we will get it done all in due time.

Hope the rest of the week is good for you. BIG HUGS GIRL...

Good Afternoon Folks!

It's rather dreary and overcast this am into noontime, but our temps are still remaining 10-11 degrees above the freezing mark. This tamer, snowless winter season to date is enjoyable, but it exposes much of the fallen debris, etc. and dinginess in our yard that will need tackling. Unfortunately, I'm lacking any/all ambition to get out there right now. Hopefully, once springtime weather arrives, I will find more incentive.

Hope everyone's over that miserable bug that was going around for the past month or so and able to find the vim and vigor to make it through this week. The days seem to be rapidly going by since New Years, so it won't be long now till daylight savings time finally comes around. Longer daylight and warmer temps...now, that's something to brighten the ole spirits!

Good Morning All!

Well many N.E. PATS fans are shaking their heads again in defeat after the NY GIANTS managed to pull out another SuperBowl win: 21-17. As they always say, "there's always next year". Nevertheless, I'm so happy that all the Super Bowl pre-hype and hoopla is over and done with for, at least, another year. It's so overdone and over-priced!

This am, it's a bit brisk outside but the sun's shining and our afternoon temps could reach a much more pleasant near 50F degrees today! YIPPEE!! There also appears to be no signs of any major snowstorms in sight as well, although we could receive a few flakes overnight on Wednesday. We have so lucked out so far this season, but I feel deservedly so after the winter of last year! I do presently feel for those citizens of Europe who are experiencing far worse wintry weather, temps and many resulting deaths than we've ever had. Hope their horribly nasty weather pattern breaks up soon and gives them the relief they so desperately need.

With this morning's sun and predicted pm warmup, my thoughts are again turning to the arrivals of both daylights savings time and spring for some needed emotional uplift and inspiration. As I've said many times before, this ole broad is no longer a fan of ole man winter or the depression it can bring.

Stay warm, safe and well wherever you are and may Monday be bearable!

Hi Mass, running through quickly but have a very nice Super Bowl weekend! Sorry to hear about the teen. Prayers for his family. Will have to look up the story because all I know is what you shared on NEw's blog. :(

Anyway, hope you enjoy the weekend whether or not you get into the game or no matter what you do!

Good Afternoon All!

I don't know if this post will take or not, as I just lost the one, begun moments ago, containing the now lost Groundhog graphics/info. that I had attempted to transfer and post here from yesterday's blog header! Such a pain! ARGH!!!

Bogon ~ I'm curious as to the supposed accuracy of Punxsutawney Phil's alleged prediction yesterday, as I heard on the news that his official handler's supposedly took a reading of his shadow DAYS BEFORE! Fortunately, I also found out that, locally, we have a female groundhog, named Mrs. G, who has been seemingly more accurate in determining the amount of weeks till spring's arrival in Mass. Thankfully, she supposedly didn't see her shadow yesterday, so naturally I'm going to side with her! LOL!

Pat ~ Hi there and thanks so much for posting those NOAA Feb. weather maps yesterday. Actually, I had posted the same maps on the last day of my Jan. blog, but didn't have the time to transfer them over to here. I had heard one of our local Boston weathermen state that we could be experiencing a "Ying Yang" in weather by the second week of February, i.e., we could be swapping to the colder wintry weather of the West Coast and vice versa. If all we have to worry about is a few weeks of possibly chillier air and a snowstorm here and there, I think we can hold our own till the beginning of March. Fingers crossed! LOL!

NEw ~ It appears you're not the only one who's been having problems with one's blogsite or computer. What increasing headaches I've been encountering with both of mine lately! Hope I can resolve things in a few weeks time! So exasperating!!

As far as Punxsutawney Phil's accuracy is concerned, read what I posted to Bogon. It appears that his handlers have now allegedly intervened for this poor rodent and jumped the gun when it came to making this year's observation. Supposedly, they looked for his shadow days in advance!! I'm placing my bets on our own local female groundhog, Mrs. G. Supposedly, she didn't see her shadow at all yesterday and has been the better predictor for our region. Well, I guess we shall see just who's the better prognosticator by March.

Hope all of you who've posted and are lurking about here are well and will stay in touch when able.

Mass, look at it this way,its better that he doesn't lie to us.I remember a back several years,he didn't see his Shadow, and I believe that was the year of the April Fool's Day snow storm. At least his seeing his shadow indicates six more weeks, and if February and March end up above normal it will be a nice surprise, rather than our hopes being dashed.
Boy,its scary how my mind works sometimes!!!!

Hi,mass, good to see you.Another one of those mild days in winter, although its not warming up this morning,I expect this afternoon will jump before cold front moves through.
I've been having an annoying emailer recently,so turned off my email.I think I know who it is,but can't be completely sure, since they borrow other bloggers handles when they email.
So its my lovely wife's birthday today, and as luck has it,heavy head cold set in.She is so congested today.Timing is everything in life. At least, it waited to set in after we went out with the family Saturday night.

Good Afternoon NEw ~

So sorry to hear that your wife's birthday is marred by a severe headcold today! I went through the same thing a couple weeks ago during mine and know how this particular strain can zap one's strength for awhile. Hope that she has the ability to get through the worst of it with no further complications developing!

Please give her our very best wishes and glad that, at least, she was well enough to celebrate her special day early (on Sat.) in grand style!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE DEAR MRS. NEWXGUY - FEEL BETTER SOON!

..........................

Thought that these posted YouTube videos could supply us with a taste of more seasonably warmer and healthier days ahead for those of us who could use some much needed inspiration right now.

Take care of yourself, too, good buddy and hope you have enough safe head cold products (black tea, honey and lemon helps) on hand to help ward off any of those miserable viral contagions still lurking about!

Good Morning All!

I'm having a "dickens" of a time trying to get my computer to work or keep from freezing up this am, hence the delay in transferring and posting some of my pertinent weather info., etc. from my January blogsite. ARGH! For now, I think my computer's has finally settled down, so I can finally respond to those posts left by dear friends yesterday. WHEW AND YEAH!

Quoting RobDaHood:
Good Morning Mass!

Read the title about a fairly pleasant end of Jan., then your post above predicting a dire Feb. Wondering what the ground hog is gonna have to say about that tomorrow?

Hope you got some rest and have a good day today!

ROB! ~ I've been thinking the same thing about what ole Punxsutawney Phil's prediction might be tomorrow. I don't believe there's any snow on the ground in Gobbler's Notch, PA, so in spite of his probable edict of an earlier spring, he may very well have to go into further hiding if much colder and much snowier weather happen to deluge us the latter part of February into March. POOR PHIL! ... OR US?? LOL!

I think I've caught up on some sleep last night, but I'm still a bit groggy due to the onslaught of paperwork and scheduling of transportation concerning my father-in-law. On the one hand, it's a seeming blessing that he can no longer drive, but it's created a bit of difficulty in arranging who's going to be driving him here and there henceforth. Such is life, but both my in-laws have always been generous of their time through the years to their family and in-laws, so I feel it's our time to shine or pick up the mantle.

Hi (((Pros!))) ~ As I mentioned to Rob, above, in my previous post, I'm still hanging in there, but can't wait till things will hopefully settle down by the end of the week. In recent years, the first couple of months of the New Year seem to produce more headaches to confront and solve. I'm still trying to learn to take things day by day and not overwhelm myself.

Hope you and your family are doing well and remain healthy.

Good morning MASS. Was having a look at your map showing another large area of snow in the Western US...looks like this mild weather is just the calm before the storm and I am sure Feb will bring us the snow we so do not want to see...LOL If all we get is about 4 weeks of real winter this year, not going to complain too much...sunny and bright out with temps in the mid 40s here today. What more can one ask for Feb lst... As far as Mr Groundhog seeing his shadow or not, we are still going to see spring in 6 weeks no matter what. LOL Why all the fuss over a rodent is beyond me...I guess it originated with some old farts just wanting an excuse to party down, enjoy a couple of mugs of golden goodness and shoot the "bull" so they came up with waking a groundhog in the middle of winter to make a silly prediction...typical of men isn't it...ROFLMBO

Anyway dear one, have a great day. Hope you are feeling better now.

(((Alley))) ~ So good to hear from you and hope you're feeling better. Sorry I haven't been around the blogs as much lately as, I've been repeatedly mentioning to the point of boredom, thing's have been hoppin' around here since my F-I-L's auto accident on Jan. 20th. Thankfully, we're all fine but I'm so tired of having to handle all the bureaucratic administrative red-tape associated with this or that. My head's a spinning!

Today, I plan on taking it a bit easier on myself and not allow the dismal looking skies to interfere with my appreciation possible real spring-like temps! I really need to get out of my indoor bat-cave once in awhile. LOL!

I whole-heartedly agree with your assessment of men instituting some of these crazy seasonal or holiday traditions! I've always wondered how old Punx. Phil is really treated during the remaining 364 days that he's not disturbed or subjected, at the crack of dawn, by those Gobbler's Notch cultists. Lately, though, I wouldn't mind trading places with the ole groundhog. Such a life! LOL!

Weather-wise today, it looks like we'll be experiencing some spring-like rainshowers while our temps possibly reach near 55F degrees! The remainder to our week looks reasonable, with above freezing daytime temps, but my fingers are now crossed about what the latter half of February might bring. Local weather METS state that it appears we may swap out with the recently colder more wintry weathered West Coast, by mid-February before we finally reach a more permanent spring-like status again. I can't complain too much, as most of this season has brought a most welcomed reprieve after last year's historically bad winter.

May the lamb part of March be permanently upon us soon; not to mention, daylight savings time! Bring it on those longer daylight hours and seasonally warm temps!! LOL!!
