There were several Lesser Scaup in the Dunkirk Harbor today. I love their pale blue/gray beaks!
The tiny trout lilies are in bloom. These endangered wildflowers live in old growth colonies that can be as much as 300 years old. All trout lilies in New York State are protected by law.

Caught up with this beauty on an otherwise cloudy and gloomy day. They are migratory birds and she recently showed up in the neighborhood.

There is still a huge abundance of migrating Red Admirals in the area. We just needed the sun to bring them back out.
The actual sunset over Lake Erie was blocked by clouds this evening but then a nice afterglow appeared about a half hour later.
A pair of Crane Flies mating in one of my flower beds. They look like giant mosquitoes but they don't bite and are very beneficial in the garden.
