Lesser Scaup Drake (novembergale)
There were several Lesser Scaup in the Dunkirk Harbor today. I love their pale blue/gray beaks!

Trout Lily (novembergale)
The tiny trout lilies are in bloom. These endangered wildflowers live in old growth colonies that can be as much as 300 years old. All trout lilies in New York State are protected by law.

Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (novembergale)
Caught up with this beauty on an otherwise cloudy and gloomy day. They are migratory birds and she recently showed up in the neighborhood.

Admire the Admiral (novembergale)
There is still a huge abundance of migrating Red Admirals in the area. We just needed the sun to bring them back out.

Colorful Ribbons (novembergale)
The actual sunset over Lake Erie was blocked by clouds this evening but then a nice afterglow appeared about a half hour later.

Spring Fling (novembergale)
A pair of Crane Flies mating in one of my flower beds. They look like giant mosquitoes but they don't bite and are very beneficial in the garden.

Again I have identified something in my yard after seeing it in your beautiful photos. I was enjoying the butterflies in my yard, but I couldn't see them well enough to pursue identifying them. After looking at your photos, I could see that they were indeed Red Admirals. Earlier I had seen your photos of the Hummingbird Clearwing Moth, and I was thrilled to see one in my garden!
